Review: Hyatt Regency Paris Charles de Gaulle

I enjoyed my night at the Hyatt Regency Paris CDG Airport, a full-service hotel with comfortable rooms.

Instead of paying nearly 400EUR for a second night at the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile, I moved to the Hyatt Regency Charles de Gaulle (CDG Airport) for my final night in Paris. The 135EUR rate was much more palatable and I had a 9am flight anyway the following morning.

Hyatt Regency Charles de Gaulle Location + Airport Shuttle

The Uber journey from central Paris to the hotel took about an hour. The hotel is directly off the highway, close to the airport, but not on the airport premises. I would not even call this hotel an easy shuttle ride to the airport. It took nearly 15 minutes to get from the hotel to the airport and I was dropped off at Terminal 2 and forced to take a train to Terminal 1 where my United flight departed from. That whole process was annoying and left me with little time to board my flight. The free shuttle runs daily from 5am to midnight.

I asked, as I always do when not proactively offered an upgrade during check-in, if there were any suites available. I was offered a “junior suite” which seems to be officially called “1 King Bed with Club Access Deluxe”.

Hyatt Regency Charles de Gaulle Guest Room

My room was at the end of a long corridor…a very long corridor in the guest tower adjacent to the check-in area.

Here’s how the marketing photo portrays the room:

Here’s how it actually looked:

a bed with white sheets and pillows in a room with a window

a couch and coffee table in a room

The corner room was spacious (548 square feet) with three large windows. The couch and chairs were very dated, but the bed comfortable.

Bottled water, cake and a nice note arrived shortly after check-in:

a table with bottles of water and a few glasses

a small chocolate dessert on a table with a note

One big complaint: the toilet smelled like a dirty sewer. The hotel appears desperately in need of refreshing its venting. The bathroom itself was nicely laid out and large, with an oversized tub and dual sinks.

Hyatt Regency Charles de Gaulle Regency Club

The Regency Club lounge was located in an adjacent tower, about a 10 minute walk (factoring in walking down the corridor, taking the elevator down, walking across the lobby level, and up another elevators) from my room. Consequently, I only visited once, just as the evening hors d’oeuvres were being laid out.

Hyatt Regency Charles de Gaulle Dining

You’re really a captive audience once you reach this property. There’s a mall nearby called Aéroville that you could walk or take a shuttle to, but eating at the hotel is just easier. The hotel’s main restaurant, Apollo, offers an international buffet plus a la carte menu each evening. The buffet appeared to contain most of the a la carte items, so I just ordered that and tried a bit of everything. Unfortunately, nothing was memorable (though that hardly comes as a surprise at an airport hotel dinner buffet). But a wide selection of food was available including many tasty salads and desserts.

During dinner, I was treated to a frankly amazing piano concert from a young prodigy who took the liberty of sitting down and playing the piano adjacent to the bar. Amazing…

I skipped the lounge and returned here for breakfast. I simply had a glass of orange juice and omelet, but once again there was a wide selection of eastern and western dishes, including many Korean items. The reason became clear when an immaculately-dressed crew of Korean Air FAs emerged in the lobby.

Hyatt Regency Charles de Gaulle Market

Almost like a Hyatt Place, a market in the lobby offers light food, toiletries, and other items for purchase. Remember that most toiletries are complimentary for hotel guests, so ask before you buy.

Hyatt Regency Charles de Gaulle Fitness Center + Pool

In an adjacent building called Equinoxe Wellness Center, a fitness center and pool are available. Spa treatments are also available. Two outdoor tennis courts are also available from 7am until 10pm.

CONCLUSION

This hotel is a great value and certainly a full service property in region of CDG. The room is comfortable and the amenities nice, though the fumes from the toilet were nasty. Overall, I recommend it.

So…. you enjoyed your night In a hotel that had a toilet that smelled like a dirty sewer? Very interesting.
Is there a sewer that is not dirty and smelly? Lol

I should have added, the smell only was present when the toilet seat was open.

Did you have to pay for the restaurant breakfast or did you have a choice to have a complimentary breakfast in the lounge or the restaurant?

Breakfast was complimentary in either place.

Several years ago I enjoyed a night there in between flights. With no status I was not upgraded, but did not have a sewer smell issue. The staff were all so pleasant. I spent a couple of hours in that airy lobby bar where I had a wonderful conversation with an Emirates flight attendant from Romania. I’d certainly stay there again if the timing is right.

Stayed there this past March– we could’ve written almost the exact same review, including seeing the perfectly dressed Korean Air Lines flight attendants. Fortunately, my bathroom didn’t’t smell like a sewer.

The rooms are nice but service in the lobby bar was dreadful (restaurant was closed for event) and food was awful & overpriced. Would never stay here again if I had to eat dinner.

The best part of hanging out at the new Intercontinental in Downtown LA is the Lufthansa and Korean crews in and out of the lobby 🙂 Meanwhile, I had my water heater blow out, which took me a couple days to replace, so I checked into a Holiday Inn close to where I needed to be for work. I noticed a bunch of Asiana crew checking in. It was a whatever Holiday Inn (kind of in no man’s land), and certainly it’s no IC Downtown LA… It’s a big upgrade for Lufthansa crew since they used to stay at the Double Tree by Del Amo mall lol…

wow that comment was all over the place. Korean = IC DTLA, Lufthansa = IC DTLA, Asiana = Holiday Inn by the 405 and 190th St. lol

    It’s the worst hotel ever:
I came last week as we are a company and we have a contract for many rooms in the hotel :
1- the shower water was uncontrollable ( even very hot or very cold , suddenly hot and suddenly cold).
2- coffee maker was not working so i called them but no body came to fix it.
3- i went to search by my self for someone to to let them fix the coffee maker for me and i found the room service, and the lady she just bring for me a coffee maker from another room and gave to me to change it by my self and she left ( by the way its not working also).
4- i went to the lobby or restaurant so i can bring a coffee for my self and the lady there told sorry but we closed 5 minutes ago.
5-I went to the front desk to talk with the guy whos wroking there about my complain and he was just shaking his head and he told me at the end OK,,,,!!!.
6- the rest room ventilation was not working ( no need to explain).
7- yesterday i came again and in the morning i went to the restaurant to eat breakfast, and i found a live cockroach with the choices, so i asked the guy to come and see , so he answered me ( give me few seconds and I will be with you)!!! .
I made a video about everything and i went to the front desk to complain again so i asked the lady to bring me complaining form, so she told me that she don’t have and i told her everything happened with me and I promised her that the pictures and the video will be everywhere in the YouTube, Facebook, instagram and all the applications fir this hotel , and i gave her my email and my phone number in case someone would like to contact me later.
