Instagram Model Caught “Pretending” To Fly Emirates Business Class

A French model and reality TV star, Oceane El Himer, 27, uploaded a picture of herself on Instagram proudly posing in an Emirates Business Class cabin. Moments later, however, a fan snapped a picture of her in-flight…seated in the economy class cabin. Ah, the life of an Instagrammer…

Instagram Model Pretends To Fly Emirates Business Class

Himer was traveling from Dubai to France on Emirates and posted the picture above to her Instagram account, which has generated over 100,000 likes.

But in-flight, a fan captured her…seated in economy class (sans mask). The Twitter post led to a flurry of comments on Instagram, many critical, which Himer blocked.

people on an airplane with a mask on

Himer, who has appeared on French reality TV with her twin sister, is hardly unique in showcasing a life of luxury that is not always what it seems.

I write about this incident not to heap scorn on Himer (after all, her caption simply stated “Next Stop – Monaco Je fly toute la night,” [I fly all night] – she did not actually claim she was flying in business class), but rather to heap scorn upon our collective obsession in showing decadence and sharing not just the best versions of ourselves online, but sometimes a false version of ourselves.

Look, I am not immune from my own judgment. I too put my “best foot forward” on social media too. We all do, if we’re honest. So perhaps more than anything else, this story is a reminder that there is a certain liberation in being genuine and not putting on masks, especially to win the approval of others.

After all the outcry, Himer posted a follow-up picture, which I have partially blurred because both sisters have their middle fingers raised:

two women sitting in a chair

It had the caption, “Cette fois ci promis j’ai payé 😉🥂,” which means “This time I promised I paid!”

CONCLUSION

Here’s my encouragement to you: count your blessings, but be yourself. Don’t put on a mask or mislead others. If that’s the only way you are able to gain the admiration of others, you sell yourself short and will find yourself ultimately unsatisfied.

Are we sure the model in economy class is not the twin? There was once a crime where the suspect was one twin but that twin claimed the crook was his twin. His twin said the same thing.

Probably not since the clothes match the faux picture in business.

She never stated she was flying in business class.
It would be similar to someone flying First or Business Class and then takes a tour of economy cabin during the flight and share of a selfie photo in economy (but not state you’re flying economy.)

Classy girks. In another 10 – 15 years they won’t be able to give it away for free.

I myself have experienced wannabe ‘influencers’ sneaking up into the international first class cabin for a quick selfie before skulking back to 32F. #livinglarge #onlythebest #etc

From a business perspective it makes sense: gets the ‘money shot’ in order to give her readers what they want, without having to pay for it. I wouldn’t pay real money for F or J on that sector; points, yes ( although taxes are a killer).
You’d have to be pretty freakin’ dumb to be influenced by these Instantgrammers and YouTubers. That said, the followers aren’t reading Proust or contemplating Sartre or Foucault .

@Pierre…. “pretty hot girls” ?? They all look like the Kardashians nowadays…. the hair, the lips, those caterpillar eyebrows….. but God forbid they’re not “hot”; the only thing that matters.

Saw this many times while working at Emirates. Many snapped pics in First class while exiting the aircraft. Got to be quick, but you only need that one shot!
