While I spent most of my time in the JAL First Class Lounge, before boarding my flight to San Francisco I briefly stopped in the JAL Sakura Sky View Lounge at Tokyo Haneda Airport.

JAL Sakua Sky View Lounge Tokyo Haneda Review (HND)

JAL’s Sky View business class and oneworld sapphire lounge was crowded, but offered a respectable selection of food and drink. A wholly refurbished Sakura Lounge on the fourth floor is now open, which was days away from opening when I visited and whose temporary closure doubtlessly contributed to the crowding.

Location + Hours + Access

This lounge is located on the fifth floor of Tokyo Haneda Terminal 3, near gate 112. Take the escalator upstairs. It is open daily during the busier periods from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm. The fourth floor Skaura Lounge is open daily from 6:00 am until the last JAL flight departs.

The following passengers have access to this lounge:

  • oneworld international first class and business class customers
  • oneworld Emerald and Sapphire status members

Emerald and first class travelers are allowed one guest.

For JAL flyers, JMB Diamond and Sapphire, JGC Premier, and JAL Global Club members have access (plus one guest) when traveling on any JAL flight, though the location of the lounge post passport control makes it nearly impossible to use for domestic flights.

Seating

The lounge layout incldues seating for 403 guests clustered around an eating area:

While the name of the lounge implies a great view out the floor-to-ceiling windows, it was dark outside during my visit so I was not able to see much of anything.

Food + Drink

In the center of the lounge is a self-serve drink area with coffee, tea, soft drinks, beer (nifty automatic dispenser machines), wine, and spirits.

There’s also a cafeteria-style dining area with both Japanese and Western food available. You can also order food from your seat with a QR code (look for the square sticker on every table).

Restrooms + Showers

Gender-segregated restrooms are available, including changing areas for young children. Showers are located on the fourth floor.

Lockers

If you’re staying awhile or wish to go out shopping, lockers are available. Simply choose your own combination and turn the knob to lock.

CONCLUSION

The self-serve drinks and freshly-made menu selections make this a solid lounge but do expect crwods ahead of the morning and evening departure banks. If you have access to the nearby first class lounge, it provides a far more tranquil experience.

Just looked at his site and it seems he only did the first class lounge.

I took JAL’s overnight HND-LHR service in economy last March and they gave everyone on the flight Sakura Lounge access instead of doing a meal service. It was a really interesting approach and I was honestly way happier with the meal and drinks in the lounge than I would’ve been with an onboard Y meal.

Was that due to a catering snafu? How was it explained?

JAL markets JL 041 to LHR as “premium night flight” and invite all passengers to the Sakura lounge (I heard business class passengers and OW sapphire and above are invited to the dedicated section with enhanced meal/drink service, but maybe that is no longer the case) instead of serving full meal after departure, considering 1:45AM departure time. JAL has some overnight flights to SE Asia, but their passengers won’t get same treatment as those flights are not marketed as such.

The only problem is we didn’t have enough bombs to nuke these gooks back to the stone ages. These F’s should never be accepted for finding Pearl Harbor.

Yea they got back at us with Hondas and Toyotas but never forget they wanted to kill everyone of us less than 70 years ago.

Anyone spending a dollar there is accountable for the deaths many of our grandparents fighting these gooks.

Never forget the deaths they caused while we were neutral in 1941.

What happened to you? You’ve gone full on troll. You didn’t used to be this way. Hope all is well.

Gooks are Koreans. If you’re going to be a disgusting racist POS, at least try to get it right,

It seems they’ve decently stepped up the quality of the food in there. Where I personally see value is that I don’t have reason to fly oneworld much (and hence no status with them), but this makes JAL’s premium economy very appealing for the odd trip since it comes with lounge access (and the onboard food is the same as Y…)

I will have Sakura Lounge access at HND next month. Anyone have a preference for one lounge over the other ?
