Kabul to Dubai on flydubai

Matthew Klint Posted onJune 25, 2013December 6, 2023 3 Comments

فلاي دبي‎ (flydubai) is a low-cost carrier based in Dubai offering budget flights throughout the Middle East and beyond. The ticket from Kabul to Dubai was $152 and flydubai was the only carrier with an afternoon flight.

FAs were dressed in Southwest Airlines style khaki pants/skirts with white shirts and the cabin crew comprised an Indian and two Filipino woman and an Australian guy. There was some congestion on the runway in Kabul—a couple UN flights departing as well as several aircraft landing—so we sat on the ground for 30 more minutes before taking off.

The 737-800 was new and clean, with upper-literature pockets giving more knee room. The flight was lightly filled and I was able to move to an exit row, giving me the opportunity to stretch out.

FlyDubai offers buy on board service, with a la carte items and combo meals. For about $12, I chose a combo including a warmed lamb wrap, a small canister of Pringles potato chips, and a bottle of water. The lamb wrap was very tasty.

Not much more to say here—it was a smooth, efficient, reasonable flight that met my expectations. I’d use FlyDubai again without thinking twice.

Did you take these videos, Matthew? I see that the videos are marked A320 but your text says you were on a 737.

Yes, that was my error–I’ve renamed the videos.

Have also flown FlyDubai and was very impressed with their service – will fly them again the next time I’m in the region.
