From Worst To First: Stunning New York LaGuardia Airport

The new Terminal B at New York LaGuardia airport opens today and the airport has undergone a transformation unlike anything I have ever seen. Will LGA suddenly go from being New York’s worst airport to its #1 airport? I’d call it a stunning transformation.

Stunning Pictures of New York LaGuardia Airport

Over the years I have flown so many times into LaGuardia. I have happy memories and not so happy memories…like that time my future wife had to fly Frankfurt to Chicago to LaGuardia instead of Frankfurt to Newark because I forgot to do her ESTA and the system was down when she tried to check-in…

Oy…

On a more positive note, it was the airport I landed in after crossing over the million mile threshold with United.

But today Terminal B officially opens. The new terminal, part of LGA’s complete rebuild which started in 2016, includes floor-to-ceiling windows with natural light, permanent art displays, and many new restaurants. The project, at a cost of $5.1BN, represents the largest public-private paartersnhip in U.S. aviation history.

Take a look at these pictures:

Air Canada, American, and United have lounges in New York LGA. It is not clear yet when their new lounges will open due to the pandemic.

CONCLUSION

I find Terminal B at LaGuardia simply stunning. I look forward to visiting…soon I hope.

Have you visited the new Terminal B at LGA? How was your experience?

The new United and air canada lounges have been open now for some time. They’re in the satellite where the United and Air Canada gates are. Not sure if you meant “re-open” due to covid, but what you wrote made it seem
You’re not aware of their even being there when, in fact, they had opened.

I did mean due to COVID-19. I will clarify.

Biden complained, calling LGA “Third World”. This was fixed when Trump was President, not Biden. So Trump gets credit????? MAGA! ha ha ha

The worse is to come; billions on AirTrain that goes east while Manhattan is west. The nonstop buses to the subway is the answer. Much, much cheaper.

Not entirely clear to me if this is pro-Agent Orange or anti-, but for the record, this was originally started in June 2016. As one who uses this as a home airport, I say “Thanks Obama!”

What does Port Authority or New York State business have to do with Trump or Obama? The governor has far more influence over the projects than the President, if he has any at all through the FAA. My understanding is that the renovation was 75% privately funded. The AirTrain access to New York City airports is still ridiculous. We have Pataki to thank for that. Giuliani opposed the original plan because it had no direct access to Manhattan. Cuomo didn’t much improve it. Of course, TDS has so addled UA-NYC’s brain that he can’t even refer to the President by name. He also revealed that he views comments through a pro- or anti-Trump filter. Sad!

Wait I thought United only used Newark in the NYC market?
