Review: Landry’s Seafood (Houston – IAH)

Although I adore Cadillac Mexican Kitchen nearby, I recently was in the mood for fish and stopped by Landry’s Seafood at Houston Bush Intercontinental (IAH), a Priority Pass restaurant.

I looked at the online menu before arriving and had already made my choice. As it turned out, the menu has been cut substantially due to COVID-19. Scan the QR code below for a look at the menu.

While waiters do roam the restaurant, you place your order directly through the website and it is brought to your table when ready. I did not see a place to order drinks on the website, though.

This restaurant is part of the Priority Pass Lounge network. As such, you can receive $28/per-person in credit toward your meal or drinks. However, do note that Priority Pass cards issued through American Express are excluded from the restaurant program.

Thankfully, I had my heart set on Mahi Mahi with crab meat and that was still available. At $33 it was a pricey piece of fish, but with a $28 discount it certainly beat eating the packaged food in the United Clubs.

It took less than 10 minutes for the food to arrive. Looking around the restaurant, I noticed that with the exception of cocktail glasses, all food and drink were served in disposable plastic with plastic utensils.

That’s such a waste of plastic, but I understand it is a cost-savings move.

Mahi Mahi was the right choice: the fish and the crabmeat were delicious. I skipped the white rice but did eat the vegetables, whcih were very al dente, but tasty with the honey mustard sauce drizzled over it. The fish and crabmeat required no sauce.

CONCLUSION

I’m heading back to Cadillac next time for enchiladas, but I really enjoyed the fish here. I would certainly return and order the same dish again.

    I really don’t understand the whole disposable dish thing. Obviously they are using COVID as an excuse to use this stuff but in no way does washing dishes pose any risk to anyone. Really quite bizarre.

    Beyond that imagine actually paying $33 ++ for that? Wild.

      I bet it has more to do with staffing- don’t need a dishwasher if everything goes in the trash.

            No, other restaurants use knives (Even steak knives). They are just being cheap here.

    Yes but that packaged food can “accidentally fall into your bag” on the way out…

    I ate here pre-pandemic. I told the waiter I wanted some gumbo to start and he was like, “No, you don’t. I’d pick something else.” Apparently if you like gumbo enough to order it at a restaurant, you will not like their gumbo.

      I wish the bartender told me that. Worst gumbo I’ve ever had. If I have the time, I go to Pappadeaux at Gate E4 for Creole food.

    Wow that is A LOT of fish. I could split that with my husband and get two meals for the price of one. I am from Maryland and I love some crab! Thanks for the review!

    Just wanted to say I personally enjoy these reviews by Matt. Certainly less contentious than Vid stories. I fly through Dallas often and they also have a Pappadeaux’s and it’s always good.
