The storied TWA Terminal at JFK is an architectural masterpiece that has sat vacant for more than a decade in the center of New York’s busiest airport. Construction will soon begin to turn the empty terminal into a luxury hotel but you have one last chance to check out the terminal in is current state this Sunday, October 18, 2015.
The tour is open to all and will run from 11am – 3pm. Expect big crowds, so arrive early if you are interested. More details here. If I was not speaking at the Chicago Seminars this weekend, I would be there in a heartbeat: sadly I will just have to live vicariously through the picture of others.
Mike visited an earlier TWA Flight Center open house…check out more of his photos here.
Matthew, I don’t think the terminal has been vacant for two decades. I visited the terminal in 1999 and it was still in operation. IIRC, the terminal continued in service until TW ceased to exist in 2001.
Thanks Dub, I saw conflicting info but have amended the post.
