Last Day for 100% Bonus on Shared US Airways Miles

Matthew Klint Posted onOctober 15, 2013December 9, 2016 Leave a Comment

Update: Offer Expired.

US Airways’ amazing 100% bonus on miles transferred between accounts ends tonight. If you have US Airways miles and are considering an award redemption next year, this offer could help you reach that goal and save a lot of money in the process.

At least with my family transfers, the miles posted immediately–

Share miles bonus

For a limited time, when you share miles, the recipient will get a 100% bonus – up to 50,000 miles. Just share your miles by October 15, 2013.

  • Share 10,000 miles, give 20,000 miles
  • Share 30,000 miles, give 60,000 miles
  • Share 50,000 miles, give 100,000 miles

The cost to transfer miles is $0.01/mile and US Airways adds a $30 processing fee no matter how many miles are transferred (there is a 50K per account) and a 7.5% tax. Bottom line, you’ll pay $567.50 for 50K miles, which is a tremendous deal.

US Airways miles are not perfect–there are no one-way awards at half the round-trip price, no changes once travel begins, and a $150 change fee for anything–even if a first class seat opens on a flight you have already paid for first class on. Plus, many Lufthansa seats require a manual sell in order to confirm.

But this is still a great deal and one that I took advantage of–check out the award itinerary I just completed for 90K miles. With some patience and flexibility, you can build a spectacular award.

And the US Airways MasterCard is still a great card to get to add to your collection with 30,000 bonus miles after your first purchase and a free companion certificate. Combine your 30,000 miles with the bonus from this offer and you’ll have a lot of options for your upcoming award travel.

The offer expires at 11:59p PT tonight.
