Review: L’Aviation Restaurant – Tahiti Airport (PPT)

After our Air Tetiaroa back from The Brando, we had some lunch at Fa’a’ā International Airport in Tahiti at L’Aviation Bar Restaurant de l’aéroport, which helped to hold us over until check-in opened for our flight.

L’Aviation Restaurant Tahiti (PPT) Review

We were flying back to Los Angeles that evening and check-in was not open for our flight yet, meaning we could not proceed to the Air Tahiti Lounge on the secure side of the airport. So we had lunch.

Only a few domestic flights were departing in the mid-afternoon and the restaurant was empty at the time, though thankfully open. It was aviation-themed and we were directed to order our food at the bar because there was no waiter or waitress.

L’Aviation is a Priority Pass restaurant and we were able to use our Priority Pass membership via Chase Sapphire Reserve to receive $28 each in credit toward our lunch. Sadly, effective July 1, 2024, the Chase Sapphire Reserve will no longer offer the Priority Pass restaurant benefit.

The restaurant offers snacks, coffee, alochol, and full meals, so it really is a one-stop-shop for any of your food or beverage needs. We ordered grilled fish and a grilled beefsteak to share, both with a salad.

With a large bottle of water to drink, I had to pay about 8USD out of pocket…really not bad at all considering I was in an airport in French Polynesia.

The food was okay…neither the steak nor the fish were memorable…but it was edible and fueled us for the next several hours.

PPT is not a pleasant airport to spend several hours in, but L’Aviation made our wait easier. Even after the Priority Pass restaurant benefit ends for Chase cardholders, there is no better landside place you can wait at the airport prior to this restaurant.

I am confused. In your previous post about the flight back to PPT you said “We walked over to the international terminal for lunch before taking a cab back to the InterContinental where we waited for check-in to open for our flight home to Los Angeles.” So, why did you have to wait that long at the airport for your flight back to LAX?

I didn’t. We had lunch and then went to the InterContinetal when the internet didn’t work in the termianl. I will lament about that in my next post.

What I was saying in post was that if you do have to wait in the airport, this is the place to wait.

Got it. I would assume the Intercontinental offers day rates for those not wanting to spend a lot of time at the airport.

How about bringing two delicious box-lunches from The Brando ?

Yes, that would have been nice.
