Holiday Treat at LAX United Club

Matthew Klint Posted onJanuary 5, 2018November 14, 2023 6 Comments

The Christmas season is coming to a close for many, but here in Los Angeles Armenian Christmas does not arrive until tomorrow. Consequently, I don’t feel guilty about posting this many days after 12/25.

A hot chocolate bar is available at the United Club at LAX, giving LA travelers a reminder of what winter should feel like. And while 75ºF weather with wildfires may not put you into the mood for hot chocolate, know that you can make quite a concoction, including:

  • Egg Nog
  • Candy Canes
  • Gingersnap Cookies
  • Rainbow Sprinkles
  • Chocolate Sprinkles
  • Peppermint Marshmallows
  • Whipped Cream
  • Chocolate Sauce

It’s a nice set up and I appreciate the effort.

a coffee machine and other items on a counter

a sign on a table

a group of jars with sprinkles on a plate

a glass with candy canes on a gold plate with a bottle of cleaner

a glass pitcher with a handle and a white liquid in it

Is This Available in All Clubs?

I’m not assuming this is in other clubs, because it was not available in Newark when I was there a day later. LAX and EWR are the only two clubs I have been too in the last couple weeks, so feel free to chime in if you have seen this at other clubs.

CONCLUSION

A nice drink like this may actually be worth stopping by the lounge. Sometimes at LAX I breeze right past the lounge to order a cappuccino at Klatch, but I’d make a stop in the United Club instead for this…it is a nice change of pace. Before I started drinking coffee (blame my wife for that), hot chocolate used to be one of my favorite drinks. It was nostalgic to have a cup of hot chocolate once again.

They had this set up at the ORD B6 Club when I was there just after Christmas.

I saw the hot chocolate bar and make your own gingerbread man at PDX on 1/1.

The F concourse club at ORD had it when I was there last weekend, although not to the same extent (I saw marshmallows, sprinkles and chocolate sauce, I think).

I was at the United Club on Christmas Day and while there were couple of new items such as the hot chocolate bar, the rest of the buffet was nothing more than same offerings prettied up a bit.
