Lufthansa First Class never disappoints. Never.
Yesterday I flew from Los Angeles to Munich, a route now served by the A380.
There wasn’t really anything new and different (though Wi-Fi is now free). And that’s the point. I’ve never enjoyed a more consistent product: a consistently excellent product.
Munich has no A380-trained flight attendants yet, so it the crew was staffed by Frankfurt-based FAs. One of the crew members I had flown with before…he was tremendous in being perfectly polished yet genuinely friendly.
Due to my wallet fiasco, I was last to board and unable to snap any pictures of the cabin beyond these two:
That’s a shame, but I just reviewed the Lufthansa A380 in first class from LAX last year, so it could have been worse. There was no time for pictures after the flight since all the upper deck passengers streamed through the business class cabin.
Anyway, the flight went like normal: I changed into my pajamas before the flight took off, ate dinner, went to sleep, slept for seven hours, then ate breakfast.
One novelty on this flight: even though it has never worked in the past, I asked the FA if he might literally pull out my dinner (bison + filet mignon) in about half the amount of time the cookbook prescribed.
“Oh you like it red?”
Yep.
Fast-forward a few courses. Everyone else had their main course and I was still waiting. The FA appeared and said, “Thank you for patience Mr. Klint. We ruined your first steak, but we’ll keep trying.”
I felt bad and told him not to worry about it, but he insisted…and added that this was something fun: a request he did not normally receive (come on, I cannot be the only one who doesn’t like well-done beef).
The main course finally arrived. It was cooked a perfect medium-well. I may prefer medium-rare, but there was some pink on the meat. That’s a first on Lufthansa!
Here’s some additional pictures from the flight:
CONCLUSION
I will post a full report, though it will be a bit different than my standard trip reports, since I so recently reviewed this aircraft in first class.
Can you write a post about Aeroplan rules regarding booking in business and upgrading to first when the space for LH opens? Is this permitted, and if so, what’s the fee for such a change?
It’s free if you already paid for it (first class award in business).
Why the PA on tarmac?
Cuz he was flying first and the shuffle him in a MCB to the First Class facility. It’s amazing
I’d guess it’s shuffling between FCLs, hence my question.
Yeah I’m sort of confused too. I thought you only got that service at MUC (or FRA for that matter, if you weren’t already in the FCT) if your flight arrived/departed from a remote stand.
Just checked the itinerary again, and with the MUC-ZRH being on F100 I’d guess it’s a shuttle for that plane at a remote stand.
Walla while you’re in Frankfurt, you should go to Bahnhofsviertel. I hear the girls there are absolutely amazing and hot. 50 euros and you can get a good….
Matthew,
While the odds of a takeoff abort and evacuation are very low it has happened. Consequently I would strongly suggest keeping your street clothes and shoes on until after takeoff. If the worst were ever to happen you will be far better off than if you were in your PJs.
I appreciate that your F experience is good but for those of us in other classes LH is only a marginal improvement over Interflug.
