Review: Lufthansa First Class Lounge Frankfurt

We all know about the beautiful Lufthansa First Class Terminal in Frankfurt, but what about the First Class Lounge located within Terminal 1? How does it compare to the First Class Terminal?

Arriving first class passengers whose travel terminates in Frankfurt are permitted to visit first class lounges, but not the First Class Terminal. For this trip, we spent the first night in Frankfurt and connected on a separate ticket to Athens the next day on Aegean, so it meant no First Class Terminal access for our connecting flight.

We arrived in the Z gates and had quite a trek to get to this lounge in the A-Gates, including about 20-minutes of waiting in line for passport control. The lounge is located just past security, next to a Lufthansa Business Lounge, in the Schengen Zone.

The lounge itself looks exactly like the First Class Terminal and other Lufthansa first class lounges. We had a seat in a comfortable seating area with Goethe looking on from the wall and had a cappuccino.

After getting some work done, it was time for lunch. The restaurant is identical to the First Class Terminal with a large buffet and a la carte menu. There was also a special Texas BBQ menu, with some great additional choices–

Still, you can never go wrong with the salt and pepper rubbed filet mignon with salad and French Fries.

Fresh berries, pecan pie, another cappuccino, and strawberry smoothie for dessert. Delicious!

A full bar is also available:

The lounge contains work rooms:

Sleeping rooms:

and a smoking room (cigars are NOT complimentary).

CONCLUSION

If you are a first class passenger departing from Frankfurt, make the extra effort to visit the First Class Terminal. From this lounge, there is no car transfer…that’s half the fun of flying first class on Lufthansa. Still, this is a solid lounge with almost all the features of the First Class Terminal.
