Serial Stowaway Marilyn Hartman Strikes Again!

Matthew Klint Posted onOctober 17, 2019October 17, 2019 14 Comments

Marilyn Hartman 2019 Arrest

Serial stowaway and folk hero Marilyn Hartman is losing her touch. She didn’t even make it past the TSA checkpoint in her latest caper.

I’m just going out on limb, but I think Hartman was emboldened by the recent headlines made by Sylvia Rictor. Rictor slipped past the TSA, past the gate agent, and onto an Atlanta-bound Delta aircraft last week in Orlando. She was ultimately stopped when she took the wrong seat onboard and another passenger claimed it.

When confronted, Rictor was unable to produce her ID and said she had thrown away her boarding pass. She was escorted off the airport premises, but not arrested.

Now I’ve written before about Hartman. Over the years, she has slipped into airports including:

  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
  • Chicago Midway Airport (MDW)
  • Honolulu Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL)
  • Jacksonville International Airport (JAX)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
  • Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP)
  • Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)
  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
  • San Jose International Airport (SJC)

She’s even successfully boarded flights…and flown on them.

But not this time. Not last Friday. Instead, she showed up at the TSA counter in Chicago O’Hare without a ticket or her ID. She tried to work her magic and slip by, but was caught. When she could not produce either document, she was recognized and arrested. Although initially released on bail, she was returned to custody…because she was deemed a flight risk.

After successfully sneaking onboard a British Airways flight to London in January 2018 without a boarding pass or passport, she was spared jail and given 18-months of probation. As part of the probation, she was not allowed near Chicago’s two commercial airports without a paid ticket. Her last stunt sidelines her plea deal. A new court date is set for tomorrow, October 18th.

CONCLUSION

When I wrote about Rictor last week, I ended my article with the sentence:

Sylvia Rictor, meet Marilyn Hartman.

It seems my words were more prophetic than I originally thought.

Is it a mental illness driving this compulsion? Where are her family?

Probably the poor old dear is lonely; the airlines should take her on a vacation to some exotic spots. It would be a nice thing to do.

Narcissism. If the blonde orange chimpanzee can get away with it why shouldn’t every one else indulge in it?

Drop her on an uninhabited pacific islands for two years with food supplies for 6 months.

Why would you do that? That’s cruel! Donate her to pharmacy industries. She can be a guinea pig for a new meds….

I wish they would have her as a guest speaker at an event such as the Chicago Seminar. Also the system is so stupid, obviously she has found countless ways to exploit it, so they should hire her in to some sort of security capacity in terms of patching the numerous holes in the system. But instead of doing that, the system just lets her languish. I’m looking forward to the next story! Also some of the previous comments are cruel and lack any sort of empathy or compassion; but I guess that has become the norm with lots of internet comments.

Agreed. She would be a remarkable guest speaker in Chicago this weekend.

It is not cruel. Food every 4 days is easily manageable. Nothing cruel about it.

The best cure for narcissism is to ignore the person completely. Sadly the country has been unable to do that with orangutan because he ups the ante every time.

Seems like TSA and/or the airlines should hire her as a security consultant. She clearly knows their weak points.

These stories always remind me of Ada Quonsett/Helen Hayes in the original 1970 Airport film – probably before the time of most of you here!

    She’s excellent.

You have to watch those films to truly appreciate the humor in Airplane!

She is excellent and won an Oscar for it ( not so convincing was Dean Martin as a pilot, but even he was far better than those in the ludicrous sequel, that included Charlton Heston in command and Helen Reddy as a flying, singing Nun)

Kudos for remembering her name. Probably the most famous stowaway of all time. Her character and their kid glove treatment of her probably motivated thousands of would be thieves. While Airport was a great movie, I also recommend “Airport ’79”. It’s so awful, it’s comedy gold. Petroni (George Kennedy) is now the Captain of the Concorde!
