Martha Stewart, the American businesswoman, author, and TV personality, has a new gig: promoting United Airlines.
Martha Stewart Promotes United Airlines On Instagram
A seasonably late video talking about much she enjoys flying United Airlines and wishing all of us a happy new year was cross-posted yesterday on Stewart’s Instagram page as well as United’s page. The video, narrated by Stewart, talks about the ease she has when flying United out of Newark, pointing out the convenient baggage drop, priority security, and Polaris Lounge.
“Getting to your next vacation spot should be as relaxing as the trip itself.”
Per Stewart, the Polaris Lounge “is very beautiful, actually, and very calming. And you know, I love the privacy of these comfy little nooks, right near the food and drink. There’s an elegant buffet. There’s breakfast, light bites, shrimp risotto. Wow! And there’s the Polaris Signature burger. Very nice! Quiet rooms are so peaceful. And if you’re on a long trip or if you just want to freshen up, there are shower suites. What a great convenience.”

I’m not big on celebrity endorsements, but I do like Martha Stewart: my mother loved her weekly program in the 90s and as a kid, I often watched it with her and also grew to like her. If she’s trying to attract my mom’s demographic to travel on United, that’s probably money better spent than trying to appeal to millennials with TikTok stars and other questionable social media influencers…
But Jennifer Aniston shills for Emirates. I know which one I’d prefer.
Like you, I’m also a fan of Martha. She’s got a remarkable story. If you’ve not seen the recent documentary, it’s interesting to hear her past and see a bit behind the curtain of her incarceration – though Martha isn’t a fan of the documentary, apparently. That said, this smacks of desperation. I know you love United, Matt. And while I can’t fully agree with you on that, to each his own. But Martha flies private. I find it hard to believe we’d catch her on a Polaris flight at all, and this sycophantic gushing is so transparent. To me, it’s debasing her and her brand. It’s like when “celebrity” chefs sell their name to horrid airline meals. The ultimate “jumping the shark”.
While I have no idea how Martha Stewart travels in general, IME even the wealthy will fly commercial for international travel because it is not always so easy to fly private to Europe and Asia.
A patient of mine is very wealthy, owns a private jet which he uses to travel for flights under 5 hours but tells me that he flies commerical for flights to Europe and Asia because his plane doesn’t have the legs and while he once chartered a plane to fly yo Europe he said it was loads better than flying commercial.
Should read: …he said it was NOT loads better than flying commercial.
Was the shrimp risotto cooked À LA MINUTE? Given her discerning palate I imagine the chef used the shells of Madagascar prawns to extract the stock overnight.
My mother loved her as a kid. 100% spot on.
Martha Stewart may seem lovable but she has an explosive temper and foul mouth. Stewart is not her last name that she was born with. She uses that because it sells things better. Would you buy from a Martha Kostyra?
She is a convicted felon and served time in a federal prison.
Nelson Mandela was a felon as well.
That said, I didn’t know she was Polish. Now I like her even more!
For all her business acumen, she should have known better than to talk to FBI investigators at all. The FBI doesn’t mirandize people that they are testifying under oath during casual discussions with them so they entrap them later on a technicality. If more people invoked their 5th amendment rights by default, the FBI might petition to get the law changed.
Does anyone here ever watch Columbo? 95% of the suspects could have thwarted Columbo if they had just said: “I respect your work and wish you well, detective, but I choose to invoke my 5th amendment rights at this time and please communicate with me via my attorney”. And that’s it! No more “just one more thing…” from him!
That said, as Matt says, I generally don’t like seeing wealthy people get wealthier from product endorsements but influencers are worse because they’re such fakes.
I’d love to see a commercial showing a veteran or firefighter enjoying the business class amenities. Win-win for all concerned.
If you didn’t know Martha was Polish, you’ll probably be surprised that other celebs like Kristen Bell,Josh Lucas,Tea Leoni,Linda Evans,Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora,Laura Ingraham,Rita Cosby,Brian BenBen,Carroll Baker, even Juliette Binoche, the list goes on and on,all claim Polish Heritage, though like most Americans, not full blooded like Martha Stewart.I find her spirit at 84 yo very Polishand yes she flies commercial,I recall she flew TAP to Lisbon.
I would buy from a Martha Kostyra,as I did a Tommy Hilfiger,…but probably not Ralph Lipschitz (Lauren) LOL.
She has a net worth of $400M. I don’t think she spends much time “hanging out in little nooks” in the Polaris lounge at Newark.
Further observation:
I read how Martha really put her time in the clink to good use by relating to the people around her and enjoying the “simpler” things in life including microwaved burritos. Prior to that, she prided herself on not having a microwave oven at all.
Prison for Martha must have been similar to some of you flying economy class to Phoenix.
After prison, I noticed how cool Martha had become. She was hanging out with Snoop Dog and being flirtatious. She loaded up on makeup and did some sexy photos. Good for her. She took lemons and made lemonade.
So I can envision her hanging around the “little nooks” in Polaris. Absolutely.
How old is she now? She looks terrible!
She’s 83 you daft muppet
Eat my nut
Unless a United ad is filmed using “Rhapsody in Blue” and narrated by Gene Hackman, I ain’t interested.
