The mayor of Bridgeport, Connecticut is suing Delta Air Lines after suffering a nasty bite on a flight.
Mayor Sues Delta Air Lines For Dog Bite
Mayor Joe Ganim was on a Delta flight 1841 in November 2018 when another passenger boarded with a dog. The dog bit Ganim, causing “serious, severe, painful and permanent injuries” to his left leg including scarring and disfigurement. Furthermore, he was forced to undergo several rounds of rabies shots because Delta refused to provide contact details for the owner or medical history for the dog. The lawsuit also alleges emotional distress.
Ganim filed a complaint in the Connecticut Superior Court. His lawsuit states:
“[Delta] failed to safeguard the plaintiff from unwarranted harm by allowing a dog neither crated nor muzzled to walk freely on and within the cabin of the plane.”
He’s being represented by his brother.
This isn’t the first lawsuit Delta has faced for dogs gone wild onboard airplanes. In response to a growing number of attacks, Delta has curbed the number of animals permitted onboard and now requires proof of animal training plus immunization records for so-called “emotional support” animals.
CONCLUSION
For years, I have opposed emotional support animals on airplanes. The only animals that belong in a passenger cabin are certified service dogs or animals in a cage. This lawsuit is more than justified if the fact pattern described is correct.

Sorry but no animals belong inside a metal tube at 3ok ft.
I’ve seen much worse behavior from the Human Animal on planes than from a well trained Service Animal.
Yes but human animals can be restrained and deliver to the cops once you land. Not sure what to do if a big dog becomes out of control inside a plane. This BS has to stop. If you don’t feel comfortable flying by yourself that you need an animal with you you probably should not be flying at all.
You gonna invite all sjw to goes berserk….
Agreed. Ban emotional support animals.
NEVER to allowed any sort of animals in the cabin
If indeed flying so scary or discomfort that you must accompanied by emotional support animal, why are we book a ticket on any airline, perhaps considered bus or train to reach where you needed to be, or perhaps stay home.
Most emotional support animals are SCAM, am afraid to informed all of you.
This is pretty basic stuff here but all the airlines would have to do is to absolutely require any dog not in a kennel to be muzzled while onboard.
Imagine you pay for a seat and have a large dog under your feet. This entire concept is wrong and the next seat should be purchased for service dogs only. This emotional support stuff is out of control. I have seen kangaroos and horses boarded. Pit bulls are quirky and have mauled several passengers. We had a half wolf dog in the plane and it was huge. FAA needs to fix this. Floor covering for an aircraft costs thousands of dollars to replace as it has flame retardant and is certified. Same for seat covers that are soiled. I was told by management that if you refuse boarding you can be sued personally. So please don’t blame the airline or the crews. We hate this crap too. Even a cat in a carrier can cause discomfort to people with an allergy. They belong in the heated cargo compartment. Don’t like that there’s net jets and many other charter companies.
TWA John
Saw a guy on first class that brought an “emotional support” German Shepherd that stayed on the floor for a 5 hour flight. Before taking off he put diapers on the dog. I could see the guy seating next to him was very uncomfortable but I guess there was nothing he could have done. On another flight the guy in front of me had a big dog with him. The dog became very unsettled during flight and jumped on his lap and started scratching the window like he wanted to get out. His seatmate was not happy at all. Totally unacceptable.
Hell, since he is the mayor of Bridgeport I would think the dog would have more to worry about. Has anyone made the dog has n checked out so it hasn’t caught anything nasty??
On the one hand, I agree that dogs do not belong in the cabin, and the airline should have held the owner responsible for providing contact information to know if rabies shots were necessary. That said, it is hard for me to take the mayor at his word. He is a convicted felon, who served time in federal prison for corruption during his previous term in the mayor’s office. Inexplicably, he was elected back into office after completing his sentence.
That’s absolutely incredible. Is there no one else that can do the job?? What are these dopey voters thinking?? Not only is he an ex con but he is needing investigated for “voting irregularities “. Anyone with two brain cells know what that means in a machine town!!!
I say let’s find that dog, give him a few bones and let him bite the mayor again!!!!
I think all middle seats should be reserved for, and occupied by, dogs; it would reduce the risk from the virus and everyone loves dogs. They should travel free in these difficult times.
Dogs are delicacies in many cultures. Are you sure the passenger seated next to them did not consider the loveable dogs as the next cuisine?
If, by the fact you loved dog so much and happy to see them bite passenger as this blogspot pointed out, why not let any passenger have reciprocation?
