I may have discovered the best place in the world to find a female companion…
My wife and I arrived late into the Miraval Arizona on Friday, just in time for dinner before the restaurant closed. Right away, I noticed something: I was the only man in the dining room. A full dining room, I might add, with about 60 people in it.
Actually, my wife noticed it and pointed it out. As I looked around, I confirmed that she was absolutely right. Wow. Not even one other man.
The following morning, I walked into the resort dining room…and once again was the only the man. Literally, the only man in a sea of 60-70 women. I felt a lot of eyes on me as I took a seat in the center of the dining room. It felt like I was invading a female-only gathering. I wish I could have discreetly taken a picture to prove I am not exaggerating.
It all became clear. This resort, with all its meditation programs, luxury spa, and health-minded food marked the perfect location for a lady’s retreat.
And for a moment, I felt like little Daffyd Thomas from Little Britain. Not the only gay in the village, but the only man in the village.
Of course in that program the running gag was that Daffyd was delusional. Here, at least for my first two meals, I was not. I kept thinking of Peter Griffin palling around with all the ladies…
Anyway, I finally saw another male guest on Saturday afternoon. It only took a day! And by dinner on Saturday, there were three other guys in the dining room. Still not a bad ratio of women to men.
CONCLUSION
I hope this post won’t be taken the wrong way. I think it’s great that this property has found a niche catering to women. And truth be told, I kind of liked being one of the only guys there. But be aware brother, you’re going to be outnumbered at the Miraval.
FWIW when I went in August, it was probably 70% women to men.
Did the guys gravitate towards each other? Based on what you’ve posted so far this place sure sounds…unique?
I almost said to the bellman, “We got to stick together brother” but figured that is probably a trite joke at that resort.
You’re one of the most stereotypical masculine people I know, so the thought of you at that resort is just very, very, very funny! LOL.
That article made my day.
Curious and I don’t necessarily disagree but why is he stereotypical masculine?

I don’t know…perhaps if you’re female.
Ok, are you being serious, or were all the single ladies of the AARP generation? 🙂
I’ve never stayed at Miraval, even though I’m globalist, because the price never seemed like a good deal.
Good question. It was a delightful cross section of women of all shapes, sizes, races, and ages: all beautiful in their own way.
I’ll stick with the men’s week at Golden Door.
We baby-mooned there and found the same thing! Though total brownie points to the guy who can enjoy it with his significant other!
