Modobag Introduces World’s First Motorized, Rideable Carry-on Bag

Matthew Klint Posted onSeptember 27, 2016November 14, 2023 3 Comments

For those of you too lazy to walk but too prideful to use a wheelchair, a company called Modobag has the perfect solution — world’s first motorized, rideable carry-on bag.

Here’s the premise: sometimes we are running late or have tight connections. Heals are broken or we wind up dripping in sweat as we arrive at our gate (this I can attest to). In comes a carry-on bag with a motor and a handle that act as a steering column.

The Modobag can even reach speeds three times faster than walking – an indoor setting of 5mph; an outdoor setting of 8mph…

One hour of charge gives you five miles of run time.

The luggage will not be available until January and comes at a price tag of US$1095. It promises to give 85% of the storage space of a regular carry-on of similar size and the bag is TSA and FAA compliant.

Color me impresed.

Nope. Nope. Nope. I’m a total nerd and I (would normally) love stuff like this but THIS, is just too much. Just walk people. Just. Walk. . . Or in your case Matthew, walk briskly.

Yes, Yes, Yes! My wife would love this. I have been thinking about designing something similar. She does not like walking with bags from one end of an airport to another.

It fits exactly into the sizer which in fact allows a larger than published carryon dimensions. So if an airline were to resize their sizers to the published allowable dimensions then your +$1,000 carryon is now a small checked bag.

What does that thing weigh loaded? If you had to carry it, it might be very inconvient.

    Silly.
