UK-based Jet2.com will introduce two onboard snacks this summer from Nando’s, one of my favorite restaurant chains!
Jet2.com will offer two “Nando’s Peri–Peri Flight Bites” buy-on-board options, including:
- Nando’s Box (with creamy hummus, smoky Peri–Peri drizzle and lightly salted pita chips)
- Nando’s Half-Popped Corn (described as “a mild and delicious snacking option where fluffy popcorn meets crunchy corn”)
I was first introduced to Nando’s in Dubai by my friend Rizwan in 2011. But I really fell in love with Nando’s when my wife I “moved” to South Africa in 2014. In fact, I enjoyed it so much it became a near-daily stop by the end of the trip. There’s nothing like a roasted half-chicken in spicy Peri Peri sauce with French Fries…

Now when I visit my sister-in-law in London our tradition is to skip the many fine restaurants in London and dine at Nando’s. It’s nice to get my fix. I’m still waiting on Nando’s to reach Los Angeles, but happy to see many popping up in the Chicago and Washington, DC areas.
I often wonder why airlines don’t strike up more relationships with food chains. It’s not just American travelers who are suckers for comfort food. I remember quite fondly the McDonald’s Happy Meals I enjoyed on United Airlines as a child…it is one thing that made me very loyal to United.

CONCLUSION
I am not sure I’ll have the chance to get on budget-carrier Jet2.com, but if I do, you can bet I will be trying the Nando’s buy-on-board (both options). Now all we need is the chicken…
Nando’s is in Chicago too!
If you want Peri Peri in North America, I would bet on Montreal (Romados, Piri Piri, Ma Poule Mouillée, …)
Or just go in Portugal!
Maybe read today’s press about just how the chickens supplied to Nando’s are treated, at least in the UK. Scandalous and appalling. I wouldn’t eat it in a million years.
Ugh. Great timing.
Not that you would eat their meat even if each chicken grew up free range eating the finest grass. 😉
Yes, that’s true. But even for those who do eat chicken, this case raises serious concerns about the company: this is far from the first time Nando’s has been exposed for cruelty in the supply chain ( and not an issue of caged birds but rather the gut-wrenching viciousness described in the story). They are a repeat , if not serial, offender. I would say that 99.999% of those who do eat chicken would be concerned about it, at least I hope so.
The Nando’s fans I know from my time living in England would eat Nando’s if they had to sit in chicken cages to do so.
where can i buy Nando’s half popped corn online?
My wife and I are getting ready to move to the UK next year for an international assignment. Can’t wait to be close to a Nando’s. We took my Aunt and Uncle to London a couple years ago when they visited us in Germany. Even after eating at Bob Bob Ricard, their favourite meal was Nando’s.
