The Netherlands Re-Opens To U.S. Travelers

The Netherlands will shortly re-open to U.S. travelers. Testing, vaccination, and quarantine will NOT be required!

The Netherlands Re-Opens On June 24, 2021 To Travelers From USA

On Thursday, June 24, 2021, Holland will re-open to travelers from the United States, regardless of citizenship. Visitors from the United States 1.) do not need produce a negative COVID-19 test, 2.) do not need to quarantine, and 3.) do not need to be vaccinated.

The United States joins a list of countries outside the Schengen area including:

  • Albania (from June 24th)
  • Australia
  • China (only if China lifts entry restrictions on European travellers).
  • Hong Kong (from June 24th)
  • Macau (from June 24th)
  • Israel
  • Japan
  • Lebanon (from June 24th)
  • New Zealand
  • North Macedonia (from June 24th)
  • Rwanda
  • San Marino
  • Serbia (from June 24th)
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • Taiwan (from June 24th)
  • Thailand
  • Vatican City

The following areas within The European Union may also visit the Netherlands freely:

  • Austria
  • Bulgaria
  • Croatia, (excludies Sjeverna Hrvatska region including Zagreb)
  • Cyprus
  • Czech Republic
  • Finland
  • France (Corsica only)
  • Germany
  • Greece:  (South Aegean region, North Aegean Region, Ionian Islands Region only)
  • Hungary
  • Iceland
  • Ireland
  • Italy (including Sicily)
  • Liechtenstein
  • Luxembourg
  • Malta
  • Norway
  • Portugal (including the Azores and Madeira)
  • Poland
  • Romania
  • Slovakia
  • Spain (Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands only)
  • Switzerland

Within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the following citizens will be allowed to visit:

  • Aruba
  • Bonaire
  • Curaçao
  • Saba
  • St Eustatius
  • St Maarten

CONCLUSION

I love the Netherlands and cannot wait to return. It’s a beautiful country with lovely people and some of my favorite architecture in the world. For U.S. citizens and anyone else departing from the United States of America, the Netherlands is open without even the hassle of testing beforehand.

    Now the 2 most important questions for US residents visiting there would be: (1) How/where to get a COVID test to return? and (2) How restricted is it to enter neighboring countries?

    Yep, I will not travel until the ridiculous testing requirement back home for vaccinated passengers is gone.

      Just fly into the closest border city in Mexico, cross via land border, then fly wherever you have to go domestically. Easiest way to avoid testing.

    You can easily get a rapid test in Amsterdam for €49 with the results available within 30 min.

    The US needs to start a vaccine passport so we don’t have to go through a ridiculous testing requirement on the way back home.
