A Hamburger and French Fry Smoothie and Other Odd Airline Lounge Requests

This is not my Meal of the Week post, but rather something that made my smile.

A hamburger and French Fry smoothie?

Qantas just opened a beautiful new lounge in London Heathrow ahead of the commencement of its new nonstop service to Perth. I can’t wait to visit the lounge and try out the new flight, but in the meantime, a bit of levity.

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce was asked to name the three weirdest requests Qantas lounge staff have ever received.

Somebody asked for a plate of really small diced up vegetables raw. The second weirdest was we had an American that came in and said they didn’t want a burger that was burnt they wanted extra burnt so charcoal nearly.

The weirdest one was somebody wanted burger and chips. That doesn’t sound that weird but they wanted it as a smoothie…There are no requests that the staff won’t deliver on.

I like his last statement…there are no requests that staff won’t deliver on.

But I’m sure there is a limit.

My request would be simple:

Fresh-squeezed orange juice, cappuccino with latte art, and a berry smoothie.

That’s how I start my day each day and that’s what I look for in a lounge as well.

What is the “weirdest” request you would make in an airport lounge?

That’s a lot of liquid to start off a day.
