United Airlines is ditching my favorite onboard snack for Oreo cookies. I feel like crying.
United Introduces Oreo Thins
Effective March 1st United will introduce Oreo Thin cookies on all mainline and United Express flights. These new cookies will replace Biscoff cookies, currently one of three complimentary snacks offered onboard all United flights.
Consequently, the following free snacks will be available onboard:
- Pretzels
- Stroopwafels
- Oreo Thins
You may not see these cookies immediately, though. United will first exhaust its supply of Biscoff cookies before introducing the new Oreo Thin cookies. Catering has been instructed not to mix Biscoff cookies with Oreo Thins, so don’t except seeing four choices onboard for the first few days of March.
Fear Not: I Predict Biscoffs Will Return
You might recall that in 2018 United suddenly pulled the highly-popular stroopwafels from the onboard complimentary snack menu in favor of Byrd’s Maple Wafers.
Six months later, the stroopwafels returned.
I have a feeling we will see the popular Biscoff cookies once again.
CONCLUSION
While “crying” may have been an exaggeration, I do love my Biscoff cookies. I hope that after a few months those cinnamon sugar biscuits will make a comeback, just as the stroopwafels did.
Who’s looking forward to Oreo cookies onboard your United flight?

I have to agree with you Matthew. And, of all the snacks to kill off, why Biscoff? It’s the best (by far). And don’t get me started about the lowball Oreo cookie that they’re replacing it with. Ugh.
This I can stomach. They can have their Tapas box when the pry it from my cold, dead 1K hands.
Personally I would prefer not to have black Oreo crumbs in my teeth while stuck on an airplane.
Biscoff cookies are like elven bread. It is rumored that flight crews can live on them indefinitely!
This feels like a Scott Kirby cost-cutting. They could not even spring for full-sized oreos!
Oh, this is bad. So disappointing…I would rather they do away with the Saks bedding before the Biscoff.
I wouldn’t go that far, but I will certainly miss the cookies!
Waiting for industry plant fly18725 to try and spin this on FT as not a cost cut
Nah, the Stroopwaffel is the snack of choice for something sweet. No one will bemoan this loss.
Oreo THINS? That is the basic economy of Oreos. Regular Oreos are better. Biscoffs are even better. This is an enhancement just like cyanide would be.
I’d say the Thins are better than regular Oreos: less Oreo nastiness.
At least there’s the stroopwaffels.
Well as a person with an allergy to cinnamon, I’m VERY happy! I’m a 1K flyer, so I usually asked for something else. Both Biscoff and Stroopwafels have cinnamon, so I was stuck with pretzels. I cried when the took the Walkers Shortbread out of the lounge.
The Walker scottish shortbread cookies that they had at Red Carpet Clubs were better… Miss those.
Those Oreo things are truly disgusting; promoted by the merchants of death running corporate America to keep people addicted to sugar.
It’s the coffee in the Biscoff that smooths out the flight, Oreos? What, the desired customer demographic is now eleven year olds?
Because the pretzels are so beloved that they’re worth saving.
Another area where AA/UA could learn from Delta + JetBlue, their snacks aren’t only better in quality, but in options as well.
The Biscoff cookies are delicious. I say nix the stroop waffles and go all in on Biscoff and Oreo, as well as pretzels. Having chocolate is a great idea.
DUM, dumb. What were you thinking? Were your Emails begging you to get rid of Biscoffs? I don’t think so. Were they begging you for Oreo Thins, I don’t think so. Look, everybody loves Oreos, but replacing Biscoffs is really DUM. Why don’t you keep everyone happy and offer both? We only fly United, is there another airline that serves Biscoffs? Jim
Ugh… once the Stroopwafels lost the novelty factor, Biscoff was my go-to with coffee. What are we, back in the 4th grade cafeteria? BIG thumbs down on this one.
