Review: Park Hyatt Zurich (Corner Suite)

Matthew Klint Posted onMay 10, 2019May 10, 2019 6 Comments

I finally scored a suite upgrade the Park Hyatt Zurich and enjoyed a short, but very comfortable stay.

This hotel must be given great accolades for its consistency over the years. I’ve published a 2011 and 2017 review and both are still perfectly on-point. The hotel does things right and does not change. That’s the mark of a great hotel.

In fact, for details on hotel amenities and dining, please see my previous review. This review will focus exclusively on my Park Suite. The property only has 139 guest rooms and suites are in high-demand. I used an expiring free-night cert to pay for the room (493 CHF), which meant I could not request a Globalist suite upgrade. I also requested an early check-in at 9:00 AM. Thus, when I arrived I was not expecting any suite upgrade.

But the very professional Andrea informed me at check-in that I had been upgraded to a “very nice” suite. He led me up to my third-floor room (317) and carefully pointed out all its features. We had a nice chat…he used to work at a hotel right down the street from where I studied in Los Angeles.

The corner suite was really beautiful, with a distinctly separate living room area, even though there was not a wall with door separating the bedroom. The bathroom was also large, with a beautiful stand-alone tub and plenty of natural light.

Waiting on the coffee table was a chocolate-based welcome amenity, which I appreciated since Hyatt hotels are not longer required to provide Globalists any sort of welcome gift.

CONCLUSION

Again, check out my reviews below for more info on breakfast, room service, the gym, spa and wellness area, and fitness center. Once again, I enjoyed the Park Hyatt Zurich and look forward to returning again…hopefully for a longer stay and in the same room.

Love the corner suite’s there…mostly as I dislike the open bathrooms of the other rooms. PH Zurich though is one of my fav city hotels in the world. Perfectly polished service! And wonderfully placed to walk around the Lake and get some fresh air.

sorry I just dont get the whole hullabalu over any suite if its a 1 night stay, unless a person expects to have a romantic night with their SO, or if a person doesnt plan to leave the room at all

Other then that for a 1 nighter I couldnt care if my view is of the back alley, and only want a good mattress, hot water for a shower and a good a/c or heating unit depending on the weather

But then again I still wonder why I booked Asiana in 1st when Biz would have done the job, another waste in my book, even thou the suite on the 380 was nice it definitely wasnt needed and IMO not worth the extra I paid for it

I think Matthew had his family so the suite is a huge benefit. Also, hell, if they are going to upgrade you course…I will certainly not say “no thanks.”

Id agree we you if he had his family with him but he didnt say he did. also he did say he couldnt use an Upgrade since he was using a free night cert. OK with a family I hear wanting to use it w/o a family I dont for a 1 nighter especially with almost a whole year to go to still use them. I would understand if the Ups were gonna expire in short time and a person had no plans for a longer Hyatt stay

Ive at times turned down some very nice free ups since either I wanted a certain view or a very low floor, or I was on a 1 nighter and wanted access to a room then and there and not have to wait a few hrs till the suite was ready. Getting a suite or exec room is not my top priority and many a time exchanged it for a reg room if they could offer me a very early checkin or a later checkout

    There’s no “hullabalu”, it’s just a review.

I’m glad he graciously accepted the upgrade, whether his family was there or not:

Now, we’ve got an up-to date review of a room-type I was previously unaware of; last time there I had the open-bathroom-style suite (which was nice, but this corner-suite looks much nicer.

    Thanks, Matthew 🙂

I was in 417 two weeks ago. Andres also checked me in.

One of my favorite hotels in the world. Gracious, flawless service. Shortly after checking in, I received a call asking if my bed was soft enough and offering to add a pad if not. Talk about above and beyond.

Also really enjoy the lobby lounge. So many new hotels lack this kind of public space.

While not surprising, it is sad to see the growing list of carriers retiring this superjumbo jet. On Malaysia Airlines, I flew the #A380 once from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to London (LHR) and had the entire first class cabin to myself (full review on the blog). It was a beautiful flight that I will always remember.
