In July, Lufthansa opened their largest Senator Lounge yet in Terminal B at Frankfurt International Airport. I have had the pleasure of using it a number of times now and want to take you on a brief tour.
Tucked away near B43, the upstairs lounge is easily missed. After scanning in downstairs, you proceed up an escalator or elevator and enter a very well-lit, large room with light wood floors. Unlike the oft-crowded A26 Senator Lounge, where finding a seat can be difficult during peak morning and evening hours, there are more than enough seats in the new lounge.
A generous selection of food–enough for a full dinner–along with a self-service bar flanks the far corner of the lounge. Last week I enjoyed pasta shells in bolognese sauce, risotto, and a vegetable salad. Nearby the food are plenty of tables that seat 2-4 as well as a smoking lounge.
In the back of the lounge are more plush and comfortable chairs as well as a sleeping room.
The signature feature of the lounge is the new “City Lights Bar” that offers a wide selection of complimentary drinks, including an extensive cocktail list (served in nifty leaning glasses).
Finally, the lounge features expansive restrooms, ten shower rooms, and even a spa which you can schedule a treatment in for a fee.
There is one thing I miss about the now-closed Senator lounge that used to be around the corner: Frankfurt’s best pasta. But other than that, the new lounge is clean, modern, comfortable, and well-worth a visit.
The lounge looks like a library cafe…. I like the bar area though! 😉
Wow, this looks much nicer than the old lounge. I just hope that this one isn’t as crowded!
