I feel like we sometimes place supremely unrealistic expectations upon flight crews, who after all, are human too. In the case of frustrated outburst from a Wizz Air pilot, my sympathy goes to the captain, not just the passengers.
Frustrated Pilot Yells At Passengers And I Don’t Blame Him…
A video which has now gone viral begins with the captain ranting:
“Show of hands please, who wants to get off? We won’t be going tonight if you get off.
“You know, I don’t need this, the crew doesn’t need this. We are doing what we can to get you out of here. It’s out of my control. Completely out of my control! It’s completely out of my control. We are doing everything we can. If you want to get off, I’ll let you off. No problem.”
‘I don’t need this!’: The moment a WizzAir pilot loses his cool with passengers during ‘seven hour delays’ at #Gatwick Airport

The context was an extended flight delay on a Wizz Air flight from London Gatwick (LGW) to Larnaca, Cyprus (LCA) that ultimately reached seven hours. The delay was blamed on air traffic control, as well as a late-arriving aircraft.
Was the captain out of line? Reaction was mixed. Some condemned his tirade as unprofessional, even going so far as to say this would never happen on Ryanair (I’m not so sure about that). Others defended him:
“There’s only so much [aggression] you can take from entitled customers, they are humans too!”
“Oh bless him though!! You can hear the pain in his voice! He wanted to get going as much as [everyone] else, must [be] hard to have [everyone] moaning at you!”
“To be fair, I’m on his side! He’s probably extremely stressed and the crew are exhausted!!”
Personally, that sort of reaction is always bound to offend some, so it is best not to use it. But so easy to say that when I was not part of that multi-hour delaying with nagging passengers acting like this:
CONCLUSION
A viral video shows a Wizz Air pilot losing it…to a degree..during a long delay. I tend to side with the captain. How about you?

This would never happen on Air Koryo.
Wait? There is actually an airline named after a kids term for taking a piss? And they want to be taken seriously?
That aside, not sure a pilot in that frame of mind, right or wrong, should be flying that day.
It’s the 7th largest airline in Europe, carried 40million pax in 2019
Yet this Europe. We can be sure some white Republican male will not go on a shooting spree, because
1. No republicans there. A party as stupid as them wouldn’t exist in Europe.
2. No guns available with your happy meal in Europe.
3. They spend money on takung care of mentally ill instead of just taking about it as a cover to do nothing about something else.
There are just as horrible and stupid parties in a lot of European countries. The difference is that here they only get 10-20% of the vote and not 40% or above. Perhaps Americans should get rid of the winner takes all system and you would get better representation and less polarisation.

This is Europe – no Klan Democrats running around in bedsheets hanging black people and burning crosses or Democrat hitmen dressing up in blackface and murdering black federal witnesses, like Samuel Pettyjohn, either. A party without knowledge of its history is like a tree with no roots.
The KKK are Republicans. Most of the bad ideas are Republicans.
Says the real democrat klansmen. I’m a black democrat and it kinda pisses me off that people think that Republicans are the only bad ones when there are just as many equally racist democrats. For example, Joe Biden and him saying the black kids can be as good as white kids, like wtf or Nancy Pelosi’s dad being a huge part of Jim Crow and her not denouncing it.
Now, how about we don’t talk about politics on a travel website.
Eric, I think you fell right into the trap.
Over the years the parties have more or less switched platforms. So, at the time of the founding of the KKK, the folks more likely to be members would affiliate with a party named the democratic party that supported vastly different policies than that party does now. At the 1868 democratic national convention for example, one delegate was Nathan Bedford Forrest, an early leader of the KKK.
I think this has relevance to this comment “A party without knowledge of its history is like a tree with no roots.”
What the hell this has to do with air travel, I don’t know.
This is a pretty moronic thing to say given that Black democrats are responsible for 50% of the murders in the U.S. despite being 13% of the population. In fact, 100% of the murders in the U.S. are committed by Non Conservatives. Actually, attacks happen all the time in Europe by Non White males. England has the same murder rate as in 1966 despite gun control because knives exist and Non White males use them to attack people. Paris also has high crime in certain parts committed by you guessed it Non White males (mostly blacks).
You are truly a dumbass who cannot match those lying ‘statistics’ with real facts. Just STFU you racist POS
Like most leftists you can’t dispute or challenge the statistics as they are fact. You resort to name calling. Random made a comment complaining about White people when Blacks are 13% of the population and commit 50% of the unprovoked homicides in the U.S. If someone defames and denigrates White people by falsely attributing violence to them when it really is other groups committing the most of it, I’m going to present the facts. Whites need an anti defamation league but of course that won’t be allowed unless we actually had smart leaders that tells us to use our numbers to force it.
I’m a black democrat and the stats don’t lie. This is mostly because of gang violence and you’ll see that most of these homicides occur in the inner-city, unfortunately. That’s why a lot of people are pushing for after school programs and such so that black kids won’t be persuaded to join gangs and make that bad statistic grow.
Small minded witnit you are. I recall a certain democRAT shooting at republicans at a ballfield some time ago. And truth be told more left leaning morons commit those acts than right. But you’re a bigot so you wouldn’t know that.
I’m torn. The captain did not act professionally, but the question is whether or not it was justified. Aside from the fact that this simply never would have happened on, say, Cathay Pacific, regardless of the circumstances WizzAir is not without blame here. I think it’s safe to assume for 7 hours pax were probably left with few reasonable updates, not given food or drink, and probably trapped on the plane for quite some time. Declarations of “not my fault” never make anybody feel better. I’m sure WizzAir could have tried a little bit harder, even if they weren’t obligated to. I think they could have all done without the captains’s threats, even if he was right.
But would Another Airline ™ taken off on time?
I support him 100 percent myself! Yelling at us these proudly clueless, addicted to social media wanna-be, famous in their minds only” brats!
There, I feel better already!
I personally think the Captain or Officer Should get involved when there is a conflict with the passengers. This shows leadership and might reduce the trouble or anxiety with problematic passengers.
If you can’t handle the stress of your occupation, including delays, without being professional and not ending up a whiny antagonistic schlemiel, find a new job. I’ve been on flights with six and eight hour delays before, with calm measured updates and interaction from the entire crew, pilot included. Just like anyone in authority, they need to be held to a higher standard.
