Prior to our WestJet flight to Barbados, we spent some time in the Plaza Premium Lounge in the international departures area of Terminal 3. This lounge got very crowded very early, but I quite appreciated the omelets made-to-order and barista coffee.
Plaza Premium Lounge Toronto (YYZ) – Terminal 3, International
This is both a Priority Pass lounge and the lounge used by WestJet and other carriers for its premium cabin guests.
Access + Hours + Location
You can find the lounge near gate C32 in the international departures area. Take the stairs or elevator up one level from the gate area (AT level). It is open daily from 5:30 am to midnight and accessible via Priority Pass. You can also buy access (about 35 CAD/hour in two-hour blocks).
Seating
Inside, you can find seating that includes both tables and chairs, plush chairs overlooking the apron, and large tables with a dozen stools around them.
Half the lounge was roped off (despite the crowding as we approached 7:00 am). It appears this area is reserved for Cathay Pacific elite and other business class passengers (versus those who buy access or use Priority Pass to enter the lounge).
Food + Drink
A buffet included breakfast items like bagels, toast, croissants, muffins, cereal, yogurt, a salad bar, scrambled eggs, baked beans, fried potatoes, and sausage patties.
I greatly appreciated that an omelet bar was also available and enjoyed an omelet with cheese and vegetables.
At the bar, there was a complimentary selection of beer, wine, and spirits (and I could not believe how many people were imbibing before the sun even rose) plus a more premium selection for purchase.
Best of all, though, there was a nice coffee machine with barista-made coffee available. It wasn’t great to be honest (the beans were too bitter), but I appreciated the effort and it was far better coffee than the autonomic machines at the buffet.
Showers + Restrooms
Restrooms and a shower suite were available on request.
Children’s Room
For younger guests, an elaborate play room with toys and books was available (what a pity the family with the screaming toddler did not retreat in here…).
Crowding
By the time we left, there was a line outside the door waiting to get in and every table was filled inside. There’s a KLM Crown Lounge next door (also a Priority Pass lounge) but it was closed. Expect a wait to get in or to be turned away if you have a morning flight and are entering via Priority Pass.
CONCLUSION
This was a pleasant lounge to wait for our flight because of the omelets and coffee. While this lounge did get quite crowded, it was far better than waiting in the gate area.
Hi Matthew
It’s great to see that “ Halal Options “ are available to serve the Moslem travellers.
Please highlight them if offered when you do your lounge reviews. Much appreciate.
Usually this is @ major problem with lounges In North America, Europe and Asian countries,
Ismail
I think I’d prefer just to go for a walk around or even sit at a cafe than fight the hordes at a crowded lunch.
