Booking Qatar Airways Qsuite With American Express Membership Rewards Points Now Easier Than Ever

My opinion is that Qatar Airways offers the best overall business class product in the world, especially its Qsuite business class product. Now it is easy than ever to secure this space with your American Express Membership Rewards points.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club Now An American Express Transfer Partner

Moving your points to Qatar Airways has already been indirectly possible by moving your points to British Airways or Iberia first, then moving them to Qatar Airways (all participate in the Avios scheme). But the extra steps were annoying and not clear to most folks.

Now, you can move your AMEX points directly to Qatar Airways Privilege Club on a 1:1 basis, enjoying instant access to a unique and increasingly-valuable loyalty program.

For years, Privilege Club was simply a wasted opportunity: redemptions were ridiculously high and it made little sense to participate in this program. That has changed. Redemption rates have dropped and booking Qatar Airways space is now no longer a poor use of your miles.

Furthermore, Qatar Airways offers “flex” awards at double the cost of normal awards. In certain contexts, that can be very valuable, including if you need to be on a specific flight and prefer to use points or are able to secure one saver seat and need a second seat on the same flight. While this 2x space does not include last seat availability, it often opens many additional seats for redemption on any given flight and is theoretically available in all cabins of service.

Qatar also has relationships with Bangkok Airways, Rwandair, LATAM, and Virgin Australia, which is unique among Avios partners.

CONCLUSION

I am glad to see that Qatar Airways Privilege Club is now an American Express Membership Rewards transfer partner. Although these transfers have already been available in an indirect way in the past, the ability to transfer quickly from AMEX to Qatar makes booking Qatar Airways easy than ever before.
