Exceptional Breakfast On A Very Short Qatar Airways Flight

Matthew Klint Posted onApril 6, 2019November 14, 2023 2 Comments

Each week, my Meal of the Week feature examines an airline meal from my travels over the years. This may be a meal from earlier in the week or it may be a meal served over a decade ago.

This week’s Meal of the Week is a nod to Qatar Airways and a demonstration of how much airlines can do on a very short flight in terms of onboard dining.

I was flying from Kuwait City to Doha, a one-hour flight of 352 miles. It was early morning and I had was hungry.

After taking off, FAs offered breakfast. What a treat this was: fresh-squeezed orange juice and a strawberry banana smoothie to start, followed by a tray with cheese, labneh, crudités, olives, fruit, bread, and a hot crêpe. What a superb meal for so short a flight!

a glass of orange juice on a napkin

a tray with food and drinks on it

The crêpe was served warm and had a meat filling.

a plate of food on a table

Bread was fresh and piping hot:

The fruit was ripe and sweet:

a bowl of fruit on a tray

My only complaint: powdered cappuccino.

a cup of coffee and a glass of milk

CONCLUSION

In the USA, I’m happy when I get a hot scone on a flight of this length. It’s always a pleasure to fly on Qatar Airways but I think the airline particularly shines on shorter flights like this one.

I think it’s the culture. Those arabs and Turks really put a lot of effort in food. All the western airlines be thankful you didn’t get DAOed.

The cappuccino was powered? Sounds very dangerous. 🙂
