My layover in Doha (DOH) was too short for even a nap, but if you ever find yourself there with a long layover, a relaxation area is available.
During my recent transit in Doha, I wanted to shower before my longhaul to New York. I proceeded to the shower area I’ve used during past visits, but there was a long waiting list. The attendant advised me, instead, to go to the lounge’s second shower area.
I did not even know there was an additional shower area, but proceeded past the café, around the corner, continued past the bathrooms, and came to another shower area. That’s not all I found…there was a huge quiet area.

These weren’t bedrooms like in the Al Safwa lounge, but nice individual cubicles with easy chairs and the lights turned down. Many were occupied, but there were several open.

If all the sleeping cubicles are occupied, you can add your name to the list at the shower counter and will be paged when one becomes available.
Need a blanket or pillow? Those are available by request as well.
CONCLUSION
Some lounges do not offer sleeping rooms in an attempt to discourage passengers from staying too long. But at the Al Mourjan Lounge in Doha, Qatar Airways offers a nice quiet area for long layovers.
Indeed this area behind the light dining area of the lounge was the best kept secret @DOH and seldom full or with a waiting list for either the showers or sleep room.
Good on you for pointing out the second shower area. My wife found it and got in instantly, saving her time for eating at the restaurants. 🙂
Hello, we are flying QATAR and have silly stopper times. We depart at 3pm but we can’t check into a hotel until 3pm. Landing in Doha just after midnight….are these sleeping chairs upstairs in the lounge? Can you recommend a place in Doha to pay for pool access, from say 8am until 12 noon? We’d have to be back at the airport by 1pm at latest for our ongoing flight to Scandinavia and Brussels. Many thanks in advance. Michelle and Frank
Why not just book a hotel room for the night before?
Hi! We (4 adults)have a midnight to 8am layover in DOHA on Qatar Airways 4/15/2019. Flying in from Beirut. Are there several quiet areas?Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks
There is one central quiet/rest area. You may have a short wait, but should have no problem securing room after the bank of 2am flights departs.
Thank you, Matthew!
Hello Matthew,
Do we have to pay to go to rest reoom??
No.
My senior parents wanna travel the next week from Philadelphia to doha and doha algiers they will stay over 15 h in the airport and they can go out for the hotel i need suggestions please
I would book the Grand Hyatt Doha.
Hi Matthew My son and I have a 10 stop over in Doha. Is there anywhere to sleep in the business lounge. I can see quiet rooms but I see any where we can be together. How busy are they are what are the changes of getting a lounge if there are any. Thanks
You likely won’t have to wait too long to get one, but you’ll each be in your own semi-private area. There is a transit hotel in the terminal, but you’ll likely pay $200 for your short stay.
