Whew! Qsuites Booked from New York to Doha

When I took advantage of the incredible $672 Qatar Airways business class fare in July, I had a strategic choice to make.

My outbound is next month and my return is in January. For review purposes, I like daytime flights. But I also wanted to fly Qsuites in one direction and the A350 in the other. I figured Qatar would sub its 777-200 (QR701/702) for a 777-300ER with Qsuites, but also figured that it might be after October.

So even though it will mean two fully nighttime flights, I booked the A350 on the way out and the 777-200 on the way back, expecting it to convert to a 777-300.

As Lucky reports, Qatar is indeed upgauging QR701/702 to a 777-300 on December 16, 2017. That means Qatar can delay service for more than a month and I’ll still be able to test it out on a lonahgul flight. The gamble paid off…

As a reminder, the schedule for QR 701/702 is as follows:

  • QR701 Doha to New York dep 08:00 arr 14:15
  • QR702 New York to Doha dep 21:05 arr 17:35PM+1 day

You can pull up seat maps on Qatar’s own website once booked and can view them at anytime using ExpertFlyer.

CONCLUSION

I am so excited to fly Qsuites, though my expectations are perhaps unreasonably high. Did anyone else book their Qatar Saigon sale tickets far enough in the future to capture a seat in Qsuites?
