Although it is not one of the flagship lounges for Brussels Airlines, I enjoyed the morning sun in the aptly-named Sunrise Lounge at Brussels National Airport.
The lounge is specifically intended for Brussels departures to the former African colonies, but it was nearest to my gate for the New York flight. Note that hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 8:00AM -1 1.45AM and Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday from 8.00AM – 2.30PM. It is located at the end of pier A in the Terminal A/T zone.
If you’re traveling to the USA or within Europe, be sure to check out two more recent lounges:
But this lounge is still nice in that, as the name implies, you can enjoy the sunrise during the morning hours. With greenery and huge windows, you feel more like on a terrace than inside an airport.
In the interest of transparency, I state at the outset that this review has never been published before, but is from October 2013. It is part of my Star Alliance Business Class Adventure in Europe and Asia report. I outline in that post why I post older flight and hotel reviews.
Newspapers are available in many languages and internet worked well. Plugs are not abundant though. I found one (had to use to converter), but they are in short supply.
Food selection is decent. Not great, but decent. In the morning I found pastries, bread, cereal, sandwiches, cheese, and a wide variety of drinks. Enough or breakfast? Sure. But it appears the Loft lounge has a much better selection of food.
CONCLUSION
I view lounges as a place to have a cup of coffee and check email before your flight. It is ideal if your time is limited. If you have more time, check out one of Brussels Airlines’ other lounges.
