Review: SAS Gold Lounge Stockholm (ARN)

Matthew Klint Posted onJuly 10, 2017November 14, 2023 9 Comments

Stepping off the plane from our Los Angeles to Stockholm flight, we had 3hrs and 40min until our connection to Oslo. While some fresh air would have been nice, we headed directly for the SAS Lounge.

The SAS Lounge in Stockholm is divided into two sides: SAS Lounge and SAS Gold Lounge. Since I have Star Alliance Gold status with United, we were able to use the SAS Gold Lounge. Entrance is controlled by gate, similar to the Turkish CIP Lounge in Istanbul. You’ll find the lounge in Terminal 5 near Gate 1 (secure side). Take the elevator up to the 4th floor.

The lounge is fairly large, but nowhere near the size of British Airways, Air France, KLM, or Iberia lounges in their hub airports. I counted about 50 people in the lounge, though everyone had room to spread out.

I’d call the design of the lounge rather eclectic. Modern for sure, but each area of the lounge had a different feel.

In the corner of a lounge are four tiny enclosed rooms that can be used for loud mobile phone calls.

I noticed no showers, just restrooms.

The buffet features a great spread of fresh food including breads, salads, soup, and fish. Figuring that the Stockholm to Oslo flight would not include a big meal, I enjoyed a nice lunch in the lounge prior to our connecting flight.

Bring a power adaptor if you’re traveling from the USA or UK: there are no universal ports.

There are no published opening hours. Rather, the lounge opens 1hr before the first flight departs and closes 30 minutes before the last flight departs.

CONCLUSION

This is a great lounge and worth a visit.

I think that description would bettery apply to the BR lounge in TPE :-).

Did you have a chance to compare it to the non-gold lounge? Curious what the differences are – I’m assuming better food and alcohol and less people.

I did see the other side. Food almost identical. Just less crowded on Gold side.

Great looking lounge. The food looks so fresh!
What I love about Stockholm Arlanda are the floors and public furniture. You can see a little of it here in these photos. Nearly everywhere you go there are wooden floors and beautiful wooden furniture! In American airports you get that ugly polished concrete aggregate jumble mix, whatever that’s called. I’m sure it’s very durable, but it’s ugly. Everywhere you go in Sweden there are pine forests as far as you can see, so they’re using what they’ve got: wood. (Just like in India even the crummiest airports and public buildings seem to have marble/granite floors and staircases.) And throughout the airport the seating is beautiful Scandinavian modern wood– not ugly chrome and plastic.
I’ve only been to Sweden a few times but I look forward to the beauty of that Arlanda’s floors and modern Scandinavian wood chairs and benches.

To add: There are showers in the same area as where the restrooms are. I think first to the left are restrooms for men, second for women and to the right are the showers (2 or 3 cabins). If I remember correct, staff provides just towels, no toiletries. To conclude, you can shower yourself, but compared to other lounges, it’s just too basic and would definitely deserve some improvement.

Thanks–on the gold side as well or just the business side? I did not see any showers.

Never been to the business side, so my comment belongs to the gold side.
