Review: Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge Hong Kong (HKG)

Matthew Klint Posted onMay 9, 2026May 9, 2026 5 Comments

I’ll just come right out and say that I found the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Lounge in Hong Kong to be very underwhelming and inferior to the United Club, the other Star Alliance Gold Lounge in HKG, but that may be a case of “great expectations” that are a tad unfair on my part…let me explain in my review below.

Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge Hong Kong Review (HKG)

This is one of two Star Alliance Gold Lounges at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), the other being a United Club.

Hours + Access + Location

You’ll find this lounge not far from the security checkpoint and passport control in terminal 1, near gate 5 on level L6 (departures). It is open daily from 6:00 am to 12:00 am.

Access is available to:

  • Star Alliance Gold members (including KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members)
    • PPS Club requires S$25,000 in spending within 12 months, earned via Business, First, or Suites class flights
  • Star Alliance business and first class passengers

Passengers must be departing HKG on a Star Alliance itinerary (i.e. if you are arriving on United but connecting on Cathay Pacific, there would be no access).

Seating

Past the reception desk there is a small seating area that was empty and quiet.

Actually, the entire lounge was fairly quiet at 6:00 am with plenty of seating in the main lounge, which goes back quite deep. After walking down a corridor where the restrooms and showers are, you enter the main part of the lounge by the bar, with the buffet behind and a lot seating to the right.

There are tables then further back a variety of different chair types.

Most seats have UK-style power outlet and USB-A outlets within reach.

The United Club has a lot of windows and natural light while this lounge feels more dungeon-like with no windows at all.

Food + Drink

I have to admit the coffee is what annoyed me here…and I’m sorry for being a snob, but it was really bad…so bitter and the milk was ultra-homogenized (you know, the one with the 30-year shelf life) that tastes nothing like real milk. So yes, it was 6:00 am and I wasn’t able to get my proper caffeine hit. The croissant also tasted stale.

Food

The breakfast buffet included:

  • egg-fried noodles
  • sautéed zucchini
  • congee
  • dim sum
  • scrambled eggs
  • soft-boiled eggs
  • bacon
  • sausage
  • overnight oats
  • salad bar
  • fruit
  • yogurt
  • cereal
  • pastries
  • ice cream

Beverages

Behind the buffet is a full-service bar (no barista service like many Singapore SilverKris Lounges) with beer, wine, and cocktails available, plus a few specialty teas.

In the small additional seating room was another coffee machine, a limited selection of soft drinks, hot pastries, stir-fried noodles, and congee:

Restroom + Showers

The lounge has restrooms and shower facilities available and there was no wait for a shower during my visit (unlike the United Club, where the waiting list was a mile long).

CONCLUSION

I think one reason I was disappointed was not because this was a horrible lounge (it’s really not), but because the SilverKris lounges in outstations like Seoul and Bangkok are so much nicer. The lack of natural light and poor coffee did not help, but this lounge is still resectable, just a bit below average for SIA.

Agreed! The lounge is surprisingly unimpressive. Not having any widows in the lounge is not appealing for me especially since airports have large windows throughout them. That being said, the lounge (SilverKris-HKG) does not reflect Singapore Airlines at all.

It just seems like a missed opportunity. They should at least add barista coffee and could add “artificial” natural light so it does not feel so dungeon-like.

Yes, it’s a bit of a dungeon and it has not been updated. But as a TPPS, I still find the F side quite pleasant with generally some pretty good fare, proper table service and reasonable champagne.

It seems like you didn’t order the a la carte noodles though. Were those available? (Ive only been in the afternoon but the made-to-order wonton noodle soup and laksa are both nice!

The SQ lounge here though is a significant step down from the one world lounges at HKG – both CX’s and QF’s!

It’s very true that the QF and CX lounges are leaps and bounds better.
