Beautiful New Business Class On Royal Air Maroc 787-9

Matthew Klint Posted onDecember 11, 2018November 14, 2023 6 Comments

It’s an exciting time for Royal Air Maroc. Last week the Moroccan carrier formally announced plans to join the oneworld alliance. Now Royal Air Maroc will soon start taking delivery of beautiful new 787-9 aircraft.

First, a note on the livery. Not that Royal Air Maroc’s (RAM) current livery is bad by any stretch…I love it…but the new livery is excellent. I appreciate that it is bold and unique.

The addition of four Boeing 787-9 will nearly double the carrier’s longhaul fleet, which currently consists of five 787-8s. It will be interesting to see which new destinations RAM might add.

Onboard, the new 787-9s will offer a reverse herringbone business class product. The B/E Super Diamond seat is tried and true, but once again I love the color scheme. Purple (interior) and green (extreior) seem to be new colors for a carrier that focused on red and white before, but the color scheme works well.

On Instagram, the carrier explains:

Discover our new cabin design, inspired by our heritage (Amethyst and chevrons), and anchored in modernity. This new cabin design has been thought to reflect dynamism and optimism.

I flew the 787-8 in business class with Lucky in 2016. Although the “two-level” seat was odd, we both enjoyed the service and food on RAM. But this new seat will be much better.

CONCLUSION

Royal Air Maroc is a great addition to the oneworld alliance. It already was before the addition of four 787-9s, but these new aircraft will make the airline even more competitive.

Any idea when these are supposed to enter the fleet?

Thinking about how to get back from Tunisia next summer and this looks interesting.

One will be delivered this month, but we don’t know which route it will be on (my guess is New York). I’ll report back once I find out.

Based on a statement made by RAM’s CEO to Hespress.com, the new aircraft will probably be used for their Brazil route and their prospective South American (Chile) and Asian destinations (Delhi and Beijing) since the Moroccan is trying hard to attract tourists from both continents. Keep in mind also that they will also be servicing Miami staring April of 2019.

I can’t say for certain but if you search random dates for the JFK-CMN route on the RAM website, the flight details do change from -8 to -9. I didn’t investigate too much into the exact date they will begin utilizing the 9 but it is on their website.
