Former New York City Mayor and Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani was caught on camera this week shaving between bites at a dining table inside a Delta Sky Club at New York JFK. What was he thinking?
Rudy Giuliani Shaving At Delta Sky Club JFK
I’ve long pointed out pesky airline passengers who display poor etiquette and would have done so for anyone caught on camera shaving while eating at an airport. But the fact that it was “America’s Mayor” really leaves me scratching my head. What was going on in his mind?
I realize Giuliani has a lot on his plate – he recently lost his license to practice law and the FBI raided his residence in a growing criminal probe, but really?
The video was posted by another passenger in the lounge, who commented:
“It took him 15 minutes to have one bowl of soup because every time he’d bring the spoon up to his mouth, half would fall back into the soup. It was disgusting.”
Giuliani moved from lobster bisque to brownies, using his tablet in selfie mode in order to guide his shaving.
The odd thing? This lounge has great restrooms and nice showers…
Then again, the Mayor dripped hair dye during a November 2020 press conference:

And of course there was the famous press conference at the Four Seasons…Total Landscaping…Philadelphia.
This is not over. For we shall mount our righteous stand at Four Seasons Total Landscaping. Next to Fantasy Island Adult Books. Across the street from the Delaware Valley Cremation Center. Between the fire extinguisher and yellow hose. #MAGA pic.twitter.com/hxuAsbEjXi

And that whole strange incident with his hand down his pants in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. (that’s the title of the movie…)
CONCLUSION
I met Mayor Giuliani after he published his Leadership book in 2002. He was a revered figure in American politics after his leadership in New York City in the days and weeks following the 9/11 attacks. It’s frankly sad to look at him now and this latest incident at JFK Airport is just another chapter in a growing volume of odd occurrences…

Frankly, much of his conduct over the past several years can best be explained by the onset of dementia. He’s clearly not all there anymore.
If there ever was a poster child for knowing when it is time gracefully to step off the stage . . .
I’m not a medical expert but I hope those close to him can find out and help
Yes, dementia is also affecting many current politicians. Scary times for this country to be “led” by demented people.
Slow news day, Matthew? Someone shaving in the lounge is unusual behavior compared to what others are doing? I get that you dislike Giuliani, but this belongs in a political blog, of which there are plenty for you to choose. Stay with travel topics, or even another story on a great cappuccino location.
Come on David, Giuliani is a joke. If it makes you happy, I’m happy to note my concern over the cognitive decline of the POTUS as well.
I agree with you on Guiliani. I just don’t think it was worthy of your site; simply more disappointing behavior in a lounge. On a different note… waiting to read more on your Sao Paulo trip.
Well, that started 40 years ago.
I’m intrigued as to why he isn’t at the Centurion lounge. It’s JFK, so same terminal, right? Surely there’s no way he doesn’t have an Amex Plat or Centurion card. Is he just paying for a SkyClub membership, or does Delta comp benefits like that to public figures? Mr. Giuliani is known for enjoying a tipple, so the speakeasy should be right up his alley.
LOL.
Love that Borat film joke. I really appreciate your dry sense of humour in these times, Matthew. Although often totally fair, correct, and matter-of-fact, I always feel like Ben from One Mile At A Time comes across as a bit acerbic and stilted, in comparison.
Anyone remember how Rudy was hailed as a hero after 9/11 and the aftermath? I can recall even further back, when he was a very effective U.S. Attorney.
Could be worse, at least he was hailed as a hero for more than a year. The Love Gov/killer of old people had a good year or being a “hero”
Giuliani is clearly very mentally ill. Maybe spending so much time around Donald Trump rubbed off…
He might have done everyone a favor and used a straight razor and slipped…
Rudy had a good run but it’s clear in recent years he’s lost velocity off his fastball.
Gross.
