I’m live-blogging my SAS EuroBonus SkyTeam Million Mile challenge this week. Click here for background and route information.
Ah, it’s good to be back in Copenhagen, even if just for 90 minutes. It’s all about the coffee at the SAS Gold Lounge.
One thing I will miss most about SAS leaving Star Alliance is access to the Gold Lounge in Copenhagen, which has a big distinctive over the Business Lounge downstairs: barista-made coffee.
But as long as I’m an SAS EuroBonus Gold member, I will continue to take advantage of this lounge and I love the coffee here.
The flat whites are good but tend not to have enough milk, so I tend to order a cappuccino here.
Just perfect, especially after the poor coffee options in London Heathrow (at least in T2…T3 is a whole different story).
SAS offered a decent spread of hot and cold items for lunch, plus fresh bread that is always so delicious.
The lounge was not overly-crowded, though it was by no means empty:
I’m loving that we have access to SkyTeam lounges during our journey, as it makes the jounrey far more pleasant and affordable. Next stop: Malaga. But something just happened here that I’ll have to share about separately…
Was this yesterday/Wednesday at around local lunchtime/late morning? Then I just missed you at one of the two passport control checkpoints or in the lounge.
Don’t worry about criticizing CPH. Even if someone gets CPH to provide their version of CAI style video footage of your movements at the airport, the Danish government won’t get on your case. 😀
The Aviator-employed idiots at the KL check in this morning would give the Egyptian government a run for its money if they were ever entrusted with any power. I spent 1.5 hour trying to convince them to check in my suitcase without charging me €70, apparently ‘you can’t use your frequent flyer benefits while crediting the miles to another airline’. Needless to say, that was news to the actual KLM staff in the Crowd Lounge who were happy to welcome me on the strength of my AZ status and a boarding pass with a SK riff-raff indication.
(For anyone not familiar with CPH, Aviator is the handling contractor for AFKL there and they also run the Carlsberg-branded lounge where AFKL are still sending pax despite SK being in Skyteam)
The contracted ground handling agents tend to want to stick to what the computer tells them to do and not seek how to do and process a waiver based on presented credentials that aren’t loaded into the booking. Some of them behave as if they are even more loyal than the king.
Maybe get Augustine an SAS espresso to keep him going? 🙂
It’s time to introduce Augustine to iced triple shot espressos with Madagascar vanilla beans and ice cream float.
It will get him ready for the 11:00 p.m. dinners in Malaga
Yes. comida para llevard. Carry out the late lunch when possible. When my dear friend hosts holiday dinners I sleep on the couch.
How did you get EuroBonus Gold? Maybe I missed one of your earlier posts.
Status match.
Are you doing CDG-TUN Sunday and TUN-JED Monday by any chance?
