SilverKris Lounge Manila Review

I spent some time in the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge in Manila (MNL) prior to my Thai Airways flight to Bangkok and found the lounge comfortable with a wide variation of food options.

Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge Manila Review (MNL)

The SilverKris Lounge is the only Star Alliance lounge at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Hours + Access + Location

The lounge is located in MNL Terminal 3 on the upper level beyond passport control. Follow the signs for “Airline Lounges” and you will find elevator banks on both sides of the upper mezzanine.

This lounge closes between flights. It is open daily from 4:30 am to 9:00 am, closes for two hours, then is open again from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Any Star Alliance business or first class passenger or Star Alliance Gold cardholder traveling on a Star Alliance flight in any cabin of service can access this lounge.

Seating

This lounge very much reminded me of the Singapore Airlines Lounge in London (LHR). With designs by Singaporean design firm ONG & ONG, Singapore Airlines’ lounge network has a distinct look that is marked by contrasts of light and dark and unique artwork, like a rather odd centerpiece on a table in the middle of the lounge.

There was only about 20 people in the lounge, with plenty of room to spread out. Universal power ports and USB-A port were available, though the USB ports were showing their age and rather loose (unable to tightly hold a charging cable).

Food + Drink

I cannot comment on the quality since I did not each much, but the lounge had a respectable selection of food with menu choices from around the globe. All food was self-serve.

Food selections included:

  • Dim Sum
  • Chicken Pho
  • Potato gratin
  • Farfalle with rose sauce
  • Greek salad in pesto couscous
  • Pepperoni Lyoner
  • Aged Gouda
  • Nacho bar
  • French Toast
  • Dinner rolls
  • Freshly-cut fruit
  • Banana panna cotta
  • Chocolate cupcakes

Beverage selections were more limited and included:

  • Orange juice
  • “Four Seasons” juice
  • Wine
  • Gin
  • Scotch
  • Vodka

Feeling adventurous, I decided to try the Mexican nachos in a Singapore Airlines lounge in the Philippines. While I probably should have trusted my gut and avoided it, I must give it an A for effort.

Restrooms + Shower

Restrooms are available inside the lounge, but no showers.

CONCLUSION

I quite appreciated this lounge and thought the food selection was thoughtful and the seating comfortable. I look forward to my next visit.

Strange accompaniments for the chicken pho! Looks more suitable to pancakes.

I’m thinking about Sydney to Mel to Doha with a 12hr stopover in Manila. Worth visiting?

I like the Singapore lounges. Tend to choose them over other options for better or worse. Eg at lhr the United lounge is clearly better.

Nobody eats authentic chicken/ beef pho with oyster sauce and other extra. I wonder if they serve correct noodle and mint with it. Such a silly fusion dish that waters down the distinctive flavor of pho is well known and liked elsewhere.

Last year, at that lounge they were serving Laksa and not pho.

Can you please check if you found my phone and send me a short response.

Thank you very much and best regards
