Review: Singapore Airlines Private Room (SIN)

Matthew Klint Posted onMarch 3, 2018November 14, 2023 9 Comments

The Private Room at Singapore’s Changi International Airport offers both tranquility and fine dining to Singapore Airlines’ first-class passengers.

First, though, we had to find it. We arrived from San Francisco at 1am and were on our own in the vast sprawl of Changi Terminal 3. Golf Carts were running by us, but sadly not for us…Thai Airways has leg up on Singapore Airlines in that respect.

We found the Private Room, which is a lounge within the SilverKris lounge. Access is reserved exclusively for Singapore Airlines first class passengers. Those traveling in first class on a Star Alliance partner are not granted access.

We were welcomed inside but advised the lounge would be closing shortly. That did not stop the lovely lounge attendants from offering us a late dinner.

Here’s the menu:

But we politely turned them down. I was still incredibly stuffed form the flight, as was my uncle.

The Private Room is divided into a dining room and sitting area with couches and easy chairs.

The following morning, which was really only four hours later, we returned to the Private Room for breakfast. Once again, we had the lounge to ourselves for the first hour.

And we were still stuffed from the flight…

Even so, we ordered breakfast…I had a review to write after all.

I chose Bircher Muesli followed by fried eggs while my uncle ordered waffles. The food was excellent and it was abundantly clear the eggs were cooked moments before serving them to me. I mention that because there are also fried eggs in the Silver Kris lounge, but these are not always fresh.

A restroom offers showers without the wait in the SilverKris lounge.

Service was not over-the-top, but always friendly and prompt.

CONCLUSION

It’s a nice lounge with a great a la carte menu in a far more quiet environment than the oft-bustilng SilverKris lounge. If you’re flying Singapore First or Suites Class, it is worth a visit. Hours are from 5:30am to 2:30am daily.

Having been there before, I think the place needs an interior refresh.

Hmmmm…… I was there about 3 years ago. I definitely had a shower there.
And I thought it was open 24 hours….

The showers are located inside the restroom. Hope you are not shy.

Odd. Don’t know how I missed them, but corrected.

Nice enough place, but a bit lacking in outlets, IMO.

Will I have access to the lounge if I fly in on Suites, but will be departing on Business 8 hrs later?

I was there Saturday morning. The overall experience was phenomenal. It’s not as sleek as the LH FCT (and no Merc or Porsche to the plane), but the service was warm and personal in a way that I’d never expect from SQ. The private check-in was really nice. And the lady running the lounge surprised me with a buggy to the gate Which was much appreciated, because it was a long ways.

Combined with an incredible FA in suites class on the 380, this was my best air travel experience ever.

Where did you go for the 3-4 hours during the closure?

Next post will address that, but just to first class lounge.
