Singapore Doesn’t Play: Airport Shoplifters Busted Within The Hour

It just doesn’t pay to commit crime in Singapore. A pair of shoplifters was apprehended at Singapore Changi International Airport less than an hour after they lifted several items from a retail store in Terminal 3.

Shoplifters Nabbed At Singapore Airport Before They Could Board Flight To India

Two young woman, 29 and 30, were browsing a Furla store during their transit in Changi Terminal 3 on June 2, 2025. A purse went missing and airport police were alerted. They quickly reviewed CCTV footage, allegedly found the moment in which one of the women stole the purse, and tracked them down. They were caught before they could board their connecting flight.

Police found the missing purse with the younger woman and then found a black haversack (a backpack-like object with a single shoulder strap) and a bottle of perfume, both of which were also deemed stolen.

(the total value of the three items was 635 SGD or 493 USD)

Singapore does not mess around: for that rather petty theft each woman, both Indian nationals, faces up to seven years in jail and a fine.

The airport police reiterated their deterrence efforts to prevent theft:

“The police will continue to work closely with stakeholders and the community to prevent and deter cases of shop theft.”

Can I ask a serious question: of all the places to steal something, why would you possibly think that in an airport full of cameras you could get away with it? I suppose had they stolen the items moments before boarding, they might have made it out of Singapore…but is a few hundred bucks worth becoming persona non grata in one of the greatest nations on earth? Is a few hundred bucks worth the steep fines and jail time that helps to keep Singapore as one of the safest nations on earth?

Maybe they figured that as long as they did not return to the scene of the crime (like this idiot), they would be okay?

I just don’t get it…you’re not going to outsmart Singapore.

They probably had no idea of the seriousness that Singapore places on a crime of this nature.

Singapore has a reputation for caning people who dispose of trash on the foor in public instead of in trash cans. I’d be shocked if they were that ignorant.

Please do not spread false news. Litterbugs are sentenced to community service in public like sweeping and clearing trash in public areas according to my friends in Singapore. And cameras are everywhere, even at their public housing. So eyes are watching!

Meanwhile , the U.S. has identified the masked rioter who threw rocks at the police in L.A., and has offered a reward for assistance in apprehending him .

The dems are crying because the laws against rioting are being enforced .

You’re absolutely right. And it relates to this story because we have an entire political party who has worked hard to decriminalize things such as shoplifing (of under $1000) in order to secure votes and brick throwers. Meanwhile, Singapore takes crime seriously, thus preventing a slide down the mud slope into chaos. As we see in some of our more progressive cities.

@John, wake up and read the room. It’s only the biggest story in the World currently and the potential end of the Democrats as a serious party.

Watching the frontrunner for their nomination in 2028 see his campaign go down the drain with ready made opposition commercials is glorious to some of us.

You need to watch something besides Fox News. If you did, you would see that people all over the country are fighting back against a ‘wanna be’ fascist administration and winning! Another place democracy is winning is within the courts. Taco Trump is a big coward, and only a coward would attempt such blatant unlawfulness.

You guys enjoy your little perverted toy soldier parade this weekend as the world laughs at you, and the 65% of Americans who didn’t vote for the clown trying to pretend to be a strong man mobilize and continue to fight back.

The democrats needed something to galvanize them and once again Taco Trump has delivered. And the republicans know it….which is why they are doing everything in their power to force through all their deficit spending via reconciliation.

They know no one voted for what they are doing, and they are going to lose big in the midterms. Trump and his henchmen are just the clowns trying to distract people’s attention away from the real crimes they are committing.

And for items like yourself it continues to work. How pathetic.

But yea, I know, they arrested some illegals so let’s destroy the city.

And then Camel-a and Newsdum cry and refer to them as “peace-loving” .

Trump is correct in giving the Army a parade .

Singapore has a justice system that allows legal representation and due process. Something that our current administration finds too troubling. When the only success they have is deportation they are desperate to keep it in front of the news.

The thieves in Singapore will be served the justice they deserve.

Singapore DO NOT have prosecutors who ask for $0 bail for murderers and rapist.
Neither does Singapore have JUDGES who give judgement based on the party who out them in the court and not follow the laws of the land.
Only in America, Judges pass orders to bring back deported illegals with removal orders into USA.

“ but is a few hundred bucks worth becoming persona non grata in one of the greatest nations on earth?” By the way we have a different opinion on what is a “great nation”. But this stuff seldom seems to bother you with your infatuation with SE Asia and other 3rd world sh#tholes. I know, F the poor, right?

“ In current day Singapore, many women are trafficked into Singapore from Southeast Asian countries, mainly Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, under false pretenses of working as a domestic helper or other legal jobs.[2] These women are forced to work at a KTV or hostess clubs.[2] Many of these women were brought in through agents and are subject to heavy debts, lack of freedom to move around the country and they are unable to control if clients engage in safe and protected sex with them.[2] This has resulted in a rise in sexually transmitted diseases which have been unable to be controlled by the government”

Women are not caned in Singapore. Men aged 18-50 are the only ones eligible for that particularly barbaric, mediaeval punishment, and only if a medical practitioner (who presumably trained at Changi POW camp during WW2) gives them a medical clearance.

At EWR I was in a huge food court with lots of restaurants and a news store all in one… There was one checkout for all of them. I was curious and asked a manager, “doesn’t this make it so easy to steal from this huge area with these few checkouts.

He responded, “two reasons, in most cases people with enough money are not the same type of people who steal and second, everyone knows there are cameras everywhere in an airport.” He pointed to the ceiling and said “I counted once, in this food court alone there are over two dozen camera.

    People are stoooooopid.
