How Southwest Airlines Made A Forlorn Boy Happy Again

You know that feeling you get when you’ve left something behind and you realize it when it is too late? For little Grayson Mulligan, that feeling hit home when he left his favorite stuffed teddy bear onboard a Southwest Airlines flight. But Southwest Airlines came to the rescue in an unexpected and heartwarming way.

Grayson was traveling with his father from Dallas to New Orleans over Thanksgiving. Somehow, he left his favorite teddy bear onboard. Although his mother quickly alerted Southwest, the stuffed animal was never found. Apparently, a flight attendant had located it onboard and handed it to a member of ground staff, but it never made its way to lost and found.

After realizing the teddy bear had disappeared, Southwest hatched up a plan to try to make it right by introducing a new stuffed bear into Grayson’s life with a storyline behind it. Grayson’s new friend was a Southwest “employee” at Love Field.

His mother shared on Facebook what Southwest sent:

a heart with a flag in the middle

a stuffed bear wearing headphones

a teddy bear wearing a vest and holding orange and blue objects

a stuffed toy in a cockpit

a stuffed animal in a plane

a teddy bear in an airplane seat

a stuffed animal sitting in a jet engine

a christmas tree with ornaments and a teddy bear

a stuffed animal next to a computer

a group of people standing in a room

a group of people sitting in chairs

a stuffed animal in a yellow hat

a stuffed animal wearing headphones and a seat belt

Addressing the matter, Southwest explained:

“Our Team searched high and low, but couldn’t locate Grayson’s teddy. That’s when our Social Care Team had an idea to help Grayson gain a new friend.

“We love connecting people to what’s important in their lives, and our Employees put their Servant’s Heart on display to help make Grayson’s day. We are proud to have played a small role in bringing Grayson and Jack together.”

Yes, Grayson named his new friend Jack and is reportedly quite happy again.

Very nice story. However, the bear has been all over the place, too dirty for the kid to hug the bear or take the bear to his bed.

Of course, the kid can have two bears, one for home use and one to take outside the home.
