Review: Thai Royal Orchid Lounge Osaka (KIX)

The Thai Airways Royal Orchid Lounge in Osaka (KIX) is hardly worth showing up early for, but I appreciated the attentive service.

After arriving from Guam on United, I proceeded to the transit counter, obtained my boarding pass, and headed directly for the Thai lounge. To be honest, I was surprised to see a Thai Lounge at this outstation, but it was conveniently located next to my gate and seemed a better choice than trying to find the ANA lounge.

Inside, an agent greeted me and when she saw I was flying first class, led me to the first class section of the lounge. As I walked through the Royal Orchid (business) class portion of the lounge, I noted it was quite small, but cozy with tarmac views.

In the back of the lounge is a yellow door with “Royal First” inscribed on it. The door slid open like a secret panel and I was ushered into a small room with about 20 seats.

I sat down and moments later a lounge attendant appeared with a tray containing packaged snacks, a glass of ice water, and a can of ginger ale. Random, I thought. I had not requested anything (nor did I want anything).

I thought there might be a menu of food to order, but there was not; at least I was not offered anything. Even so, the lounge attendant kept checking on me (and seemed dismayed that I did not eat or drink anything) and tried her best to helpful.

CONCLUSION

This is a very underwhelming lounge. It does have comfortable seating, wi-fi, and decent tarmac views, though. The lounge is open daily from 08:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. and again from 10:45 P.M. to 01:30 A.M.

Nice brief review, although it would’ve been better if you had more photos/info about the lounge’s F&B offerings and (lack of) amenities, assuming, of course, you still a) remember and b) have photos.

Also, it would be helpful if your review posts included an index or table of contents. I couldn’t remember that this was an “older” review, and nothing in the post indicated when this took place. I know that you said these reviews are still relevant, but it’s still good information to have right in the post instead of trying to dig through the site to find the introduction.

As for the service, what an odd assortment of foods to present to guests… I totally understand the ice water and wet towel, but everything else was random.
