Trump Wants Washington Dulles Airport And New York Penn Station Named After Him

a man in a suit and tie

President Donald Trump is reportedly floating a naming rights swap that would put his name on two major transportation hubs.

Trump Wants Dulles Airport And Penn Station Named After Him In Exchange For Infrastructure Funding

According to The New York Times, Trump has discussed renaming both Washington Dulles International Airport and New York Penn Station after himself, with the idea surfacing in the context of negotiations over major infrastructure funding. The reporting centers on an alleged conversation with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer tied to releasing federal funding for the Gateway Program, the long-delayed effort to expand and rehabilitate the rail link between New York and New Jersey.

Trump would unfreeze or facilitate federal funding for the Gateway project if Democrats supported renaming Penn Station and Dulles in his honor.

Schumer reportedly rejected the idea and said he had no authority to rename either facility. Multiple outlets have quoted multiples sources in saying such overtures from Trump to Schumer did take place, through Trump insisted yesterday that it was Schumer who offered to rename the facilities, something Schumer vehemently denies:

Absolute lie. He knows it. Everyone knows it.

Only one man can restart the project and he can restart it with the snap of his fingers. https://t.co/2gzJ7kWCNd

Washington Dulles Already Has A Name…

Washington Dulles International Airport already has a name, and it is not accidental.

The airport opened in 1962 as Dulles International Airport, later renamed in honor of John Foster Dulles, who served as Secretary of State under President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Dulles was a central figure in early Cold War foreign policy, a diplomat deeply involved in shaping America’s postwar global posture. His name was attached to the airport to reflect Washington’s role as a diplomatic and international capital.

The airport itself was conceived as a forward-looking international gateway, designed by architect Eero Saarinen with that iconic swooping main terminal meant to symbolize the jet age. It was built to handle longhaul international traffic at a time when Washington National Airport could not. The name and the airport were always tied to America’s outward-facing identity…

Judge Orders Trump Administration To Unfreeze Funding

All of this may be moot anyway, as late yesterday a federal judge ordered that the Trump Administration restore funding immediately for this project. The Trump Administration sought to end funding over concerns that this particular project embraced “diversity, equity and inclusion” (DEI) hiring principles, but U.S. District Judge Jeannette A. Vargas approved a request for a temporary restraining order, agreeing that pausing the project now would result in irreparable harm.

“Plaintiffs have adequately shown that the public interest would be harmed by a delay in a critical infrastructure project.”

That doesn’t mean the project will survive, but it does mean that funding must continue while the lawsuit between New Jersey/New York and the Trump Administration over the future of this project plays out.

CONCLUSION

President Trump purportedly wants Dulles Airport and NY Penn Station named after him, which doesn’t come as as surprise after he renamed the Kennedy Center in his name and has announced so-called Trump Accounts, tax-advantaged investment accounts for U.S. children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028.

I’m not in the camp opposed to naming airports after people (better than corporate sponsorships like sports stadiums and ironically the “Penn” in New York Penn), but such naming should be posthumous and enjoy broad bipartisan support…

He is begging for it now as he knows that once he dies there is not a chance in hell anyone will want to remember him – let alone honor his name. And let’s hope that death comes soon.

Part of me wants him to live past 2028 just to see anything that was named after him revert to it’s original name.

Actual Penn Station is a dump. Let him have it.

Moynihan Train Hall is beautiful. Hands off.

If he really wants Dulles, yeesh, fine, whatever, change it again as soon as he’s out.

I’d support naming it David Dennison Airport

Airport names are already too long. Presidential worship should end.

When Trump does something good like the savings accounts that no one should be against he turns half the public against it because of his vanity with the name. I truly hope families take advantage of this and add even a little to the accounts as they can.

I proudly and correctly oppose taking my tax dollars and giving it to others. Plus, the children of the rich qualify.

I’d rather get Munsoned in the middle of nowhere than name anything after the racist. And those who defend his actions are suspect, and I date say you live at 704 Hauser Street.

I’m so glad the President is focused on making lives better for everyday Americans and isn’t treating national resources like personal vanity projects. That’s what leadership is all about—how many things you can put your name on.

Here’s my fantasy. I’m elected to follow Trump. I take the oath of office. Then, before my speech, an aide comes up with a stack of papers. I sign them. Then, I announce the Gulf of Mexico is now the Gulf of Mecico along with unduing a boatload of his executive orders. Sadly, he wouldn’t be there, so we’d not get to see the orange become red. It would be so much fun watching the new Kennedy Center board vote to revert to the original name (and I despise the jerk who kept us in Vietnam to help his reelection campaign).

The MAGA demigod is a compulsive serial pathologic liar, flip-flopping, pathologic toxic narcissist, know-it-all, schizophrenic or psychopathic, arrogant, sanctimonious, psychological projecting, multiply convicted felon, serial sexual abuser, completely corrupt, grifter, imbecile, immature, infantile, stupid, ignorant, cheating (on all 3 wives), military service dodging, racist, conspiracy theory embracing, authoritarian, fascist, nasty, bully, incompetent, arrogant, with 50 years multiply documented proofs for each of those allegations, devoid of morals and integrity and honesty or a single redeeming quality. Basically every possible BAD personal trait.

People in NY to whom he’s been exposed for 50 years know that best, why his support in NY is nonexistent and why he fled to Florida. The members of his administration only support him for power and fame, purely transactional, most of them years ago wrote or spoke in opposition to him. Every one of his policies, according to all objective criteria, are detrimental to the best interests of the country, he and his policies are fundamentally indefensible. If it wasn’t actually happening it would be unbelievable, a Hollywood script writer would be hard pressed to write a script as perverse and absurd as MAGA reality, truth is most definitely stranger than fiction.

HIS SUPPORTERS ARE EVEN MORE STUPID AND GULLIBLE AND RACIST THAN HE IS AND THEY PROVE WITH THEIR EVERY UTTERANCE TO BE THE ACTUAL DERANGED TDS PEOPLE. He said it himself after his first primary victory in 2016 “I love the poorly educated” which obviously applies to book smarts AND street smarts and all his ilk. It’s unfortunate and sad and pathetic that the rest of us have to suffer the consequences of his supporters’ stupidity.

A reformed Nazi 80 years ago summed up MAGA strategy of today, German Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller (1946, postwar):
First they came for the Communists, And I did not speak out, Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists, And I did not speak out, Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists, And I did not speak out, Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews, And I did not speak out, Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me, And there was no one left, To speak out for me

(First they came for the Liberals, And I did not speak out, Because I was not a Liberal
Then they came for the Undocumented, And I did not speak out, Because I was not an Undocumented
Then they came for the Poor People, And I did not speak out, Because I was not a Poor Person
Then they came for the Non-Christians, And I did not speak out, Because I was not a Non-Christian
Then they came for me, And there was no one left, To speak out for me)

Sure, let’s do it. We should go ahead and name both of them for him:

    1. Tiny Nazi Penis Russian Mafia Thug International Airport
    2. Corrupt Fascist Scumbag Liar Moron Train Station

Let them both be a monument to voters’ stupidity for 100 years.
