TSA Gropes Six-Year-Old: How is this Keeping us Safer?

Matthew Klint Posted onApril 9, 2011 2 Comments

Lucky says "there’s just something wrong" about the video below. I will go a step further: the video below demonstrates the harrowing yet comical state airport security has descended into in the United States of America.

One event that really turned me against the TSA was when I was re-clearing airport security in Denver after a flight from Frankfurt with my uncle in 2009. My uncle, recovering from recent hip surgery, now had a metal screw in him and of course, set off the metal detector. The TSA treated him like a terrorist, rudely ordering him (82 years old) into the "holding pen" and making him wait, standing up, for someone to come and do a pat-down.

Taking his sweet time, a supervisor finally walked over. After completing an embarrassingly thorough pat-down, I asked the guy if he thought my uncle was a terrorist. Without the hint of sarcasm, he stated, "Terrorists come in all sizes." I responded back, "Maybe you’re one."

It is that paranoia that drives ridiculous searches of senior citizens and young children, like the little girl in the video below.

Let’s be clear: I am not arguing that only Arab men between 20-40 should be screened. As I’ve reasoned in other posts, I believe there is great merit to scrapping passenger screening altogether. But there is something disgustingly wrong with watching a little girl be groped by the TSA. She set off the metal detector, yes, but why not use a wand to quickly check her out? Is sticking hands inside her pants really necessary?

Is airport security screening really necessary just because airplanes cost more than busses or trains?

AMAZING! Being from New Orleans someone had sent me the clip earlier.

Just think of the confusion TSA is instilling in these children. We teach them that if someone touches their private parts to tell a safe person, including the police. Now they have an agent in uniform (who looks like a police man/woman) actually doing the groping!!!!!

If this is the new law of the land, its high time everyone endure this while traveling on a plane, including AirForce One!!!! Let those Obama girls get molested and lets see how the TSA changes their policies.

@Charles, I would have to agree, that is amazing this is how our airport security is now. It’s pretty horrible, I can’t see the clip on this site, but I’m sure it’s not something to watch and think, Oh yes, we have good airport security because the TSA does this.
If the TSA thinks everyone flying is a potential terrorist, including young children and the elderly, then they should also include Obama’s girls the same as every other citizen flying.
There should be no exception to the process.
