Keep a close watch on Turkish Airlines: the carrier is growing fast and fiercely competing with its rivals. I have watched its route network grow over the last few years and am amazed that the carrier continues to add routes around the world. Yesterday, Turkish announced plans to add four additional routes from its Istanbul hub this fall:
- London Gatwick
- Novosibirsk, Russia
- Misurata, Libya
- Mogadishu, Somalia
With U.S. gateways in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Washington Dulles (and Miami, Boston, Detroit, and Houston on the way), Turkish will have a formidable presence in the U.S. and offer a route network especially strong in Europe, Northern Africa, and the Middle East.
While Turkish service and professionalism is not quite up to Swiss and Lufthansa levels in my experience, the airline’s hard and soft products are phenomenal and I look forward to many flights with them in the future, assuming the carrier can work through their recent earnings woes…
Don’t forget: you can now search and book Turkish Airlines award seats at Continental.com.
Oh weekend in Mogadishu sounds good.
@Damian: I know you are joking, but I would go to Moagadishu for a look around! Care to join me?
I like to think of myself as adventurous, but Mogadishu is NOT on my list. I’m not sure I’d go there without a tank.
Ha Matthew.. I think it would be cool.. but I do not think up for it..
Matthew would go to Moga… he went to Iran’s Kish Island.
@Darren: I would go in a heartbeat!
@Damian: Come on Damian!
