United Airlines will announce new 2024 routes tomorrow morning at 8:00 am ET and has once again teased us with a short video offering clues about the new dots and lines. Here are my predictions.
My Predictions For New United Airlines 2024 Routes
The 45-second video stars Patrick Quayle, United’s Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances.
Who’s ready to play “Where in the world will United fly next?”
Drop your guesses below and come back tomorrow, March 7, at 8:00 a.m. ET for the reveal of our new international routes. pic.twitter.com/j3GcK5NmpQ

My first thought, of course, is Indiana Jones…it makes me think of Raiders of the Lost Ark, which takes place in Egypt. Thus, my guess is that United will launch service from Newark (EWR) to Cairo (CAI).
It strikes me as precisely the kind of route Quayle likes, perfectly timed for the winter schedule (when it is far more tolerable to visit Egypt), though the route is served by Star Alliance partner EgyptAir (EgyptAir also flies from New York JFK and Washington Dulles IAD). It is my understanding that United’s Washington Dulles – Amman (AMM) route has performed very well.
Furthermore, that first line also appears to originate in Newark and go in the direction of Cairo on a Boeing 787-10, which seems well-suited for this route.
Next, we have a route from Houston heading southeast. United will launch new service from Houston (IAH) to Georgetown, Guyana (CJU) on April 1, 2024…could it just be this?
Perhaps we might also see a return to Montevideo? I’d say that is unlikely considering a Boeing 737-800 is pictured.
Finally, it looks like Untied is flying from somewhere in Florida, perhaps Orlando (MCO), south. There’s been rumors that United is looking into a Florida hub, though I am not convinced that is happening until it takes delivery of a lot more aircraft.
That third new route might also be the Korean peninsula, not a rough outline of Florida. Maybe a new route to Seoul (ICN), like from Los Angeles (LAX)? Asiana, a Star Alliance member, is still planning a merger with SkyTeam member Korean Air, so it is not clear how much onward connectivity would exist.
Then again, United might also just be making official its new Tokyo Haneda routes from Guam (GUM).
CONCLUSION
United will introduce new routes tomorrow. I’m betting on Cairo, but who knows…will we also see new routes from South Korea or just an official announcement of the new service Guyana and Tokyo Haneda?
Those are my predictions…how about you?
UPDATE:
I was wrong…
Good article. Note though that MS does operate 3pw CAI-EWR.
You are correct. Also, I noticed this was a 781, not 788.
Nope. It’s Casablanca. Trust me.
Yea, how did that work out for you?
Since moving to DC, I hope it’s IAD to somewhere in Asia…which I know won’t happen but I’ll continue to dream.
United al the way to Asia from IAD? Sounds more like a nightmare than a dream.
Stuart is probably correct. Raiders was influenced by the movie Casablanca and Quayle is wearing Bogart’s fedora so I’ll take a $100. bet on this.
It is possible that UA will launch non-stop fligjt between Seoul and Guam, a former CO hub. Last year, more tourists from South Korea visited Guam than from Japan.
Mathew,
Do you have any suggestions where to stay in the Freiburg im Breisgau area? We won’t have a car and hadn’t explored the black forest area previously. I’ve heard Donauquelle is a nice place to visit and isn’t far from it via train.
We are doing a Vienna-Salzburg-Munich-Freiburg xxxx – Strasbourg-Paris trip with some open dates.
I’m betting on EWR-CMN/IST/PMO/MADEIRA, IAD-BOG & NRT-PALAU.
Number two is clearly from Houston not IAD.
Montevideo.
Guam to Haneda
Just flew to Ho Chi Minh city via Taipei. The FA’s on my flight were abuzz with the news that there will be a direct from SFO to SGN.
What an extremely ugly man.
I was hoping for United to serve non-stop flights from Dulles to Seoul, South Korea with having Korean Air serving Dulles makes sense. United only has Tokyo-Haneda route to Asia from Dulles. Currently, Dulles travelers have to go to SFO to Seoul.
