Pictures: United Airlines 787-10

United’s new Boeing 787-10s are set to enter service in January on premium transcontinental routes. Later in 2019, the airplane will fly international routes from Newark.

United will take delivery of 14 787-10 aircraft over the next two years. The aircraft will be configured with:

  • 44 United Polaris seats (business class)
  • 21 UnitedPremium Plus seats (premium economy class)
  • 54 Economy Plus seats (extra legroom economy)
  • 199 standard Economy seats

After operating transcontinental routes, initial international routes form Newark will include:

  • Frankfurt
  • Tel Aviv
  • Paris
  • Barcelona
  • Brussels
  • Dublin

I missed a press event last week in Washington Dulles that offered a sneak peek onboard this beautiful new plane. While I hate to have missed the chance to step onto this new plane in-person, United sent me some pictures onboard that I will share below.

You can start with a video tour:

Here are some pictures of both the interior and exterior of the plane:

CONCLUSION

I’m looking forward to trying out this new aircraft next year. While United’s Polaris business class seat may not be industry-leading, it is comfortable and offers direct-aisle access at every seat. Furthermore, the premium-heavy density makes upgrades at least plausible. That’s something that is increasingly difficult on American Airlines…

Do you look forward to flying on the 787-10?

Matthew, do you know if UA starting PE service will now allow PE to be booked on UA.com for other airlines like LH and NH? Currently that is not possible, and it’s frustrating because you can’t get PQD for PE on other airlines.

Great pictures. That is a long plane!

Great photos! The aisles look widest at Premium Economy seats. More than in Polaris cabin.
Are there any significant width changes in 777s Polaris seats vs 787s? Would you happen to have those specs for all Polaris seats aircraft? 767, 777, 787

Question! I have been Silver the last few years, and I am wondering if there is a clear explanation anywhere regarding space-available CPUs once Premium Economy launches. Is it correct that Economy Plus will still exist on these planes, and that Silver would be able to choose Economy Plus seat 24 hours before departure? I am curious to see what the upsell price point is for various routes, including whether it would be a bit lower if you paid for Economy Plus over Economy at the time of purchase.

No guidance yet. Fingers crossed it won’t mean no more economy to business upgrades.
