Beautiful Act of Kindness by United Flight Attendant

Matthew Klint Posted onMay 26, 2018 9 Comments

Can you imagine leaving something valuable behind on an airplane, only to have a flight attendant hand-deliver it to your door?

That’s what happened to a New Jersey woman, who was startled when a United flight attendant showed up at her door with a very special delivery.

Rachel Braverman, her husband, and three kids travelled to Disney World. Each day during the trip, Braverman would get up early and stay up late in order to pump breast milk for her newborn.

Unfortunately, Braverman left her pumped breast milk under the seat in front of her on her Orlando to Newark flight. The plane was slated to do a quick turn to Miami and a passenger noticed the breast milk after the aircraft door had been closed.

He handed it to flight attendant Jeff Nowotny, who asked the captain to return to the gate. But it was too late. During the flight to Miami, Nowotny kept the milk on ice. When he reached MIA, he asked gate agents to look up Braverman’s info. They tried calling, but no one answered. Since Nowotny was returning to Newark, he opted to take the breast milk back to New Jersey with him.

He texted Braverman and she responded. She was shocked and elated that Nowotny would track her down. But then Nowotny went a step further: he volunteered to bring the milk to her house.

Nowotny’s flight arrived at 11:30p and he proceeded over to Braverman’s house, dropping off the milk.

Who does that? He never even met me! He wasn’t on my flight — he was on the crew that came on after me!

In a text to Braverman, Nowotny said:

I have brothers and sisters and lots of little nieces and nephews, and I would like to think someone would do that for my family. I can relate to the hustle and bustle of traveling with children and how challenging it can be.

CONCLUSION

My wife used to pump breast milk when Augustine was younger. It’s a time-consuming process and the milk is therefore a valuable commodity. This story just makes me smile. A small act of love that certainly does not restore my faith in the human race, but makes me thankful for the great capacity we all have to serve others.

What a kind act. That said, I don’t think most moms would still use milk that had been sitting out so long. I would have just mailed her the empty bottles.

Depending on ones school of thought, some would use it. The complexities of breastf milk Are open for endless debate.

As a former breast feeding mother, I am warmed by his customer service.

@Mitch, one data point I left out — the mom had transported it in a special cooler to keep it cool. The FA put it on ice just as an additional precaution.

Fake news put out by United’s PR department to divert attention from dead dogs, beaten passengers and cutting first class meals. Has anyone confirmed this??

Maybe I shouldn’t be so skeptical. After all, the captain did tell the FA to drop dead when he was asked to return to the gate. That sounds like the United that I despise.

Trying to figure out if you are the Russian troll or you just waste your life thinking negatively. I assume you believe everything Trump says too.

I left a tablet and a leather (old school) paper notebook on a flight a couple of weeks ago.and I was called, it was held by an agent for me to pick up. They knew my seat number only. Greatly appreciated. I don’t think the article is fake as one comment implied. They have great service.
