United Airlines Flight Awards Starting At 4,000 Miles One-Way

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of United’s MileagePlus loyalty program, United Airlines is discounting domestic and international economy class award flights during a one-day flash sale. This even includes United’s latest international route additions.

United Airlines Flash Sale: Award Flights Starting At 4,000 Miles

Today only (May 6th), you can book United Airlines domestic flights for as little as 8,000 miles round-trip or international trips, including Europe, Israel and Tahiti, for as little as 40,000 miles round-trip.

You can check out all eligible routes here.

Additional info:

  • Valid for travel from June 1, 2021 to August 31, 2021
  • Flights must be operated by United or United Express
  • Saturday night stay and roundtrip purchase are required
  • Fares are capacity controlled and may not be available on all flights
  • Taxes and fees starting at $5.60 not included

The list is long. Domestically, shorthaul and midhaul flights are included.

Internationally, several routes to Europe and Latin America are included and tend to represent a better deal than the domestic awards.

Tip: Always check the cash price of your reward before booking. While 8,000 round-trip sounds like a great deal, if the round-trip ticket costs one $100 you are wasting your miles. While 40,000 miles is generally a good deal for European or South American travel, if the fare is only $560 round-trip the miles are better off used for other purposes. Generally, I like to get at least 1.5 cents in value for each United mile (and often get triple that when redeeming for premium cabin redemptions).

CONCLUSION

If you are planning travel this summer and intend to use your miles, do check today’s sale and see if it makes sense for you. You only have until 11:59pm CT to book.

Do you plan to take advantage of this promotion from United Airlines?

Zero routes out of Austin. Too bad!

I wonder if they’ll get any takers on the CLL-IAH flight with a Saturday night stay.
