Look for food trucks bearing a United Airlines logo circling New York and San Francisco over the next couple weeks. Find one and you’ll enjoy a complimentary destination-themed dessert from one of United’s international destinations.
The food trucks will roam the streets of both cities each day between 11am and 3pm. The “Taste the World” promotion runs until August 13th.
New York City will receive desserts from Israel, Latin America, and Japan, highlighting UA’s non-stop service to all three destinations. San Francisco will feature only a German to dessert for the entire three-week program to highlight United’s new Munich nonstop from SFO.
New York City
- July 24-30: Rugelach, a traditional Israeli treat and black and white cookies
- July 31-Aug. 6: Dulce de leche, coconut cream and pineapple doughnuts from Latin America
- Aug. 7-Aug.13: Japanese sakura cherry donuts and yuzu lemon zest doughnuts
San Francisco
- July 24-Aug.13: German traditional almond horseshoes and apple crumb cake
I think it’s a great marketing idea. Even better, perhaps, would be to offer these desserts onboard the flights. United Polaris desserts are a big improvement over an ice cream sundae alone, but these sorts of treats provide character to a menu.
In any case, look out for these food trucks and leave a comment if you run into any. Maybe LA will get some love next…
