Italian Sausage Frittata On United Airlines

Matthew Klint Posted onFebruary 29, 2020November 14, 2023 5 Comments

Each week, my Meal of the Week  feature examines an airline meal from my travels over the years. This may be a meal from earlier in the week or it may be a meal served over a decade ago.

United Airlines currently offers an Italian sausage frittata on its breakfast buy-on-board menu. Is is worth ordering?

My son and Augustine and I recently few to Honolulu (details on that soon). Since I used Turkish miles (15K round-trip) for his ticket, we did not upgrade to business class.

It’s not often I get to fly in economy class on a longer United flight (blocked at six hours), but it gave me a chance to take advantage of my 1K benefit of complimentary food onboard.

We actually had a nice breakfast in the Alaska Lounge before the flight, but I ordered the Italian sausage frittata because it sounded good and why not? Better than a snack box…

It was smaller than I thought it would be, but very tasty. The egg, pork, kale combo worked well.

Too many ingredients…I wasn’t eating this for my health.

Simple as that: it was tasty, hot, and Augustine and I wolfed it down…that kid has a huge appetite for a three-year-old.

If you see this on your next United flight, it is not a bad breakfast choice and actually is better than some of the first class breakfasts offered onboard.

Hopefully you wiped down that table tray really well before and after you placed the frittata on it…

It was on paper (and later plated)

I had it on a December flight from Vegas to Dulles, and I agree that it was very good.

And it was an incidental charge for the purposes of my Amex Hilton Aspire card (so FREE).

Also agree that it was small but tasty, 2nd best thing after the original southwest omelet that was on BoB menus 3-4 years ago. That omelet was essentially the same thing they served in premium cabins.
