What Will United Airlines Reveal On Instagram?

United Airlines removed all its pictures from Instagram and teases us with an announcement at 6:00am CT tomorrow, June 3rd. What has United got up its sleeve?

United Airlines Promises A Big Announcement On Instagram

a screenshot of a social media post

Here’s what United told employees about it:

Umm… why have all of United’s Instagram posts disappeared?

If you’re one of the more than 800,000 followers of United’s Instagram account, you know that we’ve had 1,000+ posts that are now – POOF – gone! And what could be happening at “6 a.m. CT June 3”?

What gives? Help us solve the mystery – share your thoughts on this suspicious disappearance in the comments section.

And check out the chatter – and what customers are guessing – on Twitter

I have several guesses, in no particular order:

  1. Could it be that a UK – USA corridor will be announced early tomorrow morning for summer travel?
  2. Last-minute new summer routes?
  3. It’s Pride Month and the single picture remaining has a rainbow in it. Perhaps something to do with that? Maybe a rainbow-colored montage on Instagram and a new rainbow-liveried aircraft like American?
  4. Return of the tulip? (one can dream…)

My gut tells me it is something to do with Pride Month, but let’s see.

What do you think United has up its sleeve?

Yeah — don’t really care. Will probably be something lame

Friday is June 4th. Maybe United will take a more edgy stand on human rights than just plastering rainbows everywhere.

Something pride related was my first thought, too.

A new guarantee that you will not get Covid-19 on your trip if you fly United. The fine print will be that you will get 1000 free bonus MileagePlus miles if you do get sick.

    Fly in confidence with United!

Oh, I remember now!!!! It was when I was in Paris and read the headlines, two huge stories competing.

    1989
    Khomeini of Iran died
Tiananmen Square, the PLA crushed the people with tanks, literally.

New service to Iran on United!
New service to Beijing, Republic of China (that’s what the announcement will say!)

Could it be this? I don’t think so but I could be wrong.

Probably United’s IT team screwed up so it will be fixed by tomorrow at 6am. Typical United.

Believe it or not, they will go to such lengths as to physically drag you off the plane to ensure you’re not exposed!

Unless they finally reduce the amount of miles needed for international travel!

Color me impressed, in theory. But show me the money- let’s see this thing actually fly (and land)

A giant statue of Oscar Munoz at O’Hare. (Unfortunately it will have its head taken off by an American 737-800 wing within a few days.)

How much is that Boom going to cost. Will cost sink the project even before it gets off the ground?

With cars, a car executive once told me it is about as expensive to design an Aston Martin as a Toyota Corolla, maybe $2B, but that fewer sales makes the Aston Martin expensive. He said the Toyota is somewhat more expensive just because they design several versions, like different engines.

If Boom sells 50, it will be too expensive.
